So the producer responsible for my beating up Jesus last year just announced that he's got the rights for this musical. It's the third of Uhry's "Atlanta Trilogy" (the first being Driving Miss Daisy), based on the Leo Frank trial of 1913. It won the Tony award for best book and score. Just wondering if anybody in ATL caught it at the Fox in 2000 or has a local perpsective on the history.

Incidentally, the run will be August 5-9, 2013 (how's that for notice?) at this theatre near Land's End. Chances of my involvement are high. Worth the trip.

Never seen the play, but the Leo Frank story is one of the more famous egregious cases of "some black guy did it" in Georgia history.

Yeah but didn't "some black guy" probably do it in this case? Looks like the opportunity to lynch a rich jew trumped the chance to sentence another black guy to death.

Yeah - you're right. I got it mixed up - I posted that at 6AM.

Not sure if this shows up in the play, but Frank's defense played the race card pretty heavily.
