some prime selections here.

Radcliffe Wrote:
3. The Biters - It's All Chewed Up, OK?

was this ever released on a physical format? i saw them in august and they didn't have anything and hadn't pressed it at the time.

Radcliffe Wrote:
5. The Barreracudas - Nocturnal Missions

this was one of my most anticipated records of the year and it did not disappoint at all.

Radcliffe Wrote:
13. Marvelous Darlings Single Life

is this just a compilation of their singles? or is there more on it? i've loved the few singles i got my hands on.

Released vinyl-only on December 6th. It's really just their last two EPs with 2 extra tracks though, so it's pretty available digitally.

It's 8 of their singles plus a handful of demos. 21 tracks in all. Totally fun.

Rads lists are increasingly like Cornish, Pali, or Dalmation... Endangered language of raw rock and hand claps. Good for many hours of research with few samples to help out. The Elders only remember what it means.

I've only heard The Booze, Postelles and Anal Major (nice pull btw)

I've got some catching up to do - why don't you spread some holiday jeer by making me a mix of the best rack off each of these I can play at top volume while everyone tries to open presents?

I really like that Barracudas, the Dum Dum Girls and the Kills. A few other things I still need to get a listen to. Just don't spend as much time with the straight ahead garage rock sorta stuff as I used to so this list will be good for me to delve into.

There's 3 volumes of 'em here - but I'll also eventually be putting together a mix of the top 20 (or so).

I did not like that Tashian at record at all. Open dislike. Also checked out the Dum Dum Girls a while back and it didn't really click either--probably worth another shot though.

PLENTY to chew on here though. Past performance tells me there's two or three (or maybe 20) records here that will make my fucking day/week/month. Hells to the yeah.

I got really excited about that Biters until I read it was just their last two EPs, which I've already heard and love. Need to check out those two extra songs, though.

Could anyone upload that Booze album? I've been searchin' with no luck.

Need to check out that Barreracudas definitely.

And lastly, not that I give a crap, but I think that Postelles was 2010. Really dig that album, had it pretty high on my list.

I pretty much had the same reaction on first listen to both of those albums. The Dum Dum Girls won me over on the strength of Dee Dee's voice, and Tashian on the strength of the melodies (once I got over the oily gloss of the mix).

Just punch "barreracudas mediafire" into google.

I thought that too, but it turns out only the blogs had the album last year after the band's label dropped them. Official release is 2011.

The only thing I thought the Barreracudas had out was a poorly recorded cassette. Hopefully this sounds better.

Also, no Stinson? I'm not sure it will make the cut on my list, but I've given it a lot of spins (its just the sort of mindless Mong Rock i need to get me through the grind some days)

I should have also thrown in earlier that Anal Major and The Booze are shoe ins for my list. Great fucking records.

hey Rads did I ever recommend Gateway District to you? If not, check 'em out. Consider them to be like, #21 on my year end list. RIYL: Prissteens? Donnas before they got too wanky? Definitely has the multi-femme vox rock thing going on, the album as a whole is a bit more punk than playful though. Nate from Banner Pilot plays guitar for them.

I forgot about the Stinson album. There's something about it that just doesn't do it for me though. It's kinda like that Garland Jeffreys album - serviceable classic rock. It needed a song as good as "Hey You" from his last one.

Thanks for this, bort! Doubt they'd have cracked the top 20, but I definitely dig. I'll track 'em down.

I would argue that song is "All This Way For Nothing", but I get your point and agree with you on Garland Jeffrey's.

3 bands from ATL in a row...I'd tell you to move here, but I'd probably have to kill you.
