i still haven't decided if i got attached to this from driving around the CA desert to it last september, or if i would've liked it on its own. it's not normally the kind of thing i'd go out of my way to find.

Also, this is probably as good a place as any to post this. Candidate Waltz was going to be at or near the top of my list anyway, but I think this may have pushed it over the top:

Have you heard their other albums? Wondering how this compares. Really dig their Church Mouth record. If I remember correctly, Opa was/is a big fan as well.

I've heard a couple of them, but none really stuck with me like this one.

Good job Yail Bloor. Certainly some that will overlap with mine.

I tried with Portugal the Man with their "Church Mouth" record but I never took and I never went back to them. Hmmmmm.

Also, I've seen that Apex Manor record pop up on several lists here among the reg-rock aficionados and it leaves me scratching my head.

I'm just not hearing it. I thought the Broken West's "I Can't Go On, I'll Go On' was a solid record. I thought the follow up was a step back and felt this wasn't even up to the the 2nd BW album. Oh well. Perspective.

I'm not shocked to see White Denim (a record that I really like). Indie rock's answer to Phish?

White Denim definitely has a jam-y thing going on in certain places that scratches an ancient itch for me. Personally, I love how the guitars are fighting for attention amidst one of the tightest rhythm sections i've heard in a minute.

Also, I've been wondering for a while if the great instrumental "Down On The Farm" is a shoutout to the Dixie Dregs' "Pride O' The Farm"?

I need to hear the Centro rekkid, and re-evaluate The Booze based on last night's convo (pogblask)

You mean the name? I believe I couldn't remember the actual name and deemed it Anal Major.

There's a band called Outlaw Lovers (one fucking AMAZING record from a few years ago) and I call them Brokedick Warriors - and can never remember the real name.

So, this Booze record is actually The Deadstring Bros isn't it? It took a minute for me to get into the groove (maybe sounded a bit too derivative at first) but by the New York City Women/Rachel two-fer I'm fucking losing it over here.

Just got ahold of that Centro-Matic. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeit. I like it a lot. To paraphrase yourself, there's too much in the way of good music to hear and not enough hours in the day.

Less of the "experimental emo" sound that Waiter, You Vultures! and Church Mouth had. This and The Satanic Satanist are their best by far.
