Wherein people can talk about their plans, and recap their year in a less awesome fashion than Toots (because we ain't beatin that)

I'm headed to The Compound (aka my dad's crib) to do a whole lotta nothing and pass out by 10

I had a pretty fucking good 2011. It started with uncertainty and ends with uncertainty, but I stayed in business another year, and even thrived in what many thought would be a tough environment, and with a fair amount of people rooting for me to get some kind of imagined-comeuppance. (In the words of my homie Will: "Haters gonna hate, man. That's they job. That's what they do D")

Won two elections including a major tax referendum (convincing people to raise their own taxes for the purposes of PUBLIC EDUCATION in America, much less Garlabama is a real achievement) and got our mayor re-elected 82-18% in a city where the demographics ate not in our favor. I won a major industry award, made trips to DC and Philly, and went to 4 UGA games including the SEC Championship which was amazing for the first day, and even into the first half of the game. I met Coach Dooley. I saw DBT at both the newly renovated Georgia Theatre in Athens, and The Alabama Theatre in Turscalursca. Missed em in Florence because of a work trip to Orlando, but the Orlando trip was what inspired me to ask Bloor to revive the pogblask. And we're doin that damn thing with the blast. If nothing else it provides us both with 2 hours of conversation and a creative outlet per week. oh yeah, and I invested in a Brewery!

I also did a bunch of shit wrong, drank too much, and didn't make all the right moves financially or as a person, but that's life, eh?

Here's to 2011 - *queue the Sinatra* when I was 34, it was a very good year...it was a very good year...when I was thirrttyy fooouurrrr.

2011 was my best year in recent memory. Professionally it began with a bang, January 1st I first heard that my boss & nemesis at work had resigned and I ended up taking over her position by the end of January. With the new promotion, I effectively caused two other recalcitrant co-workers to resign before spring. They were not thrilled with my new direction. Two other people were hired to take their place and have worked out better than I could have imagined. Most importantly, my immediate stakeholders have given me great feedback on the way I'm running the program. It began strong and ended strong.

Personally, with the new position and increased cash flow I was able to almost immediately sell my townhouse and move into a new home overlooking the mountains. Leaving the white trash LARPing neightbours behind might have been the personal highpoint of 2011.

My friendly "little" company with great perks finally got bought out by a giant company with meh-tastic perks. -shrug/sigh-

2011:
I gave up coaching completely, finally.
Saw the oldest off to college. Currently redshirt QB at D-III Louisiana College. My dream realized by him.
Watched the teaching profession continue to be undermined by idiot politicians who have no concept of what it's like in a classroom.
Continued to drink WAY too much.
Overall, not a great year (economy), but blessed to have myself and mine all healthy and happy.

I was employed in 2011, so I had that going for me.
I organized a fairly successful craft beer benefit in honor of the Nebraska Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
I fully immersed myself in the world of craft beer and home brewing, and Fantasy League EPL.

I'm spending NYE in Omaha with friends and family after making a trip to Brix for some top notch craft beer. We are having a dinner party that is allegedly a formal event. I'm wearing an etsy denim sport coat, so I can wear a classy Canadian Tuxedo.

I had a damn good 2011. Got back to full-time with insurance and all that jive, and they seem to like me pretty well and keep giving me new shit to do. I'll keep bustin' my hump and cashing the checks for a while. It's good to be back working for the man, honestly.

I also made a pop-up book, that it appears I will never be completely paid for. Oh well, I made a fucking pop-up book, and it has Camden Yards in it. 8-year-old Fu is quite proud.

The Broad starts a new job next week, so 2012 holds a big bump in household income and getting married, plus likely a new whip and a new dog (we had to put ol' Rudy down in October). All that and Texas BBQ? That's a good year to look forward to. Fuck the Mayans.

another great year for me. daughter turned 1, son turned 4. 11th year of marriage, going stronger than ever. first year in new job where I feel like I am finally doing something I enjoy and something that challenges me. got appointed to a couple of boards; one a non-profit legal organization and another one for the city that provides citizen oversight of the portland police bureau. next up for 2012: get this house ready to sell in an extremely challenging market...not that much fun.

2011 was pretty meh with the exception of my brother's continued improved and good health, so I'll take it. Maybes for 2012 include a new(ish) car, an actual vacation and, hopefully, a resolution (good or bad) to a tumultuous "relationship" with a guy I've been starry-eyed for for eons now.

Happy 2012, Obner.

First 75% of 2011 was pretty shitty.
Met new FShe on 10/4.
Last 25% of 2011 has been pretty great (excluding Game 6 of the World Series, of course).

Finances still not solid, but seem to be inching toward stabilization. Higher-paying gig will have to happen if stabilization is to ever advance into anything remotely approaching even a modicum of comfort - but tons of folks have it worse, so I'm thankful to count myself among the upper-middle gutter class.

Weight is still an unresolved issue. While cholesterol remains shockingly low (164), blood pressure has finally entered the low end of the hypertensive realm and my knees are intermittently (and increasingly) in excruciating pain.

Two goals for 2012: gain $$$, lose LBS. If things continue to progress accordingly with FShe, we'll be engaged within the next 365 and she will officially assume the title of The Current Future Ex Mrs. FT v2.0

I just jumped into a frigid river. My immediate goal for 2012 is to get warm.

2011 started on a weird note...gf decided to move away with another guy, I was at a shitty job that never paid me, and I was probably doing way too many drugs. I left the job on pretty bad terms (though it was probably a good move for my health) and the aftermath caused me to have a complete breakdown. Luckily some friends stepped in and got me some new gigs, I became relatively popular around town and started getting tons of work.

2011 suddenly got much much better after that...I've been booked solid ever since. I was able to scrounge up enough to buy all my own equipment and start my own business which is picking up nicely.

2012 is going to be a make it or make it year...there is no in between...
