So I finally watched The Descendants and thought it was brilliant. More importantly, I came away from the film absolutely loving the music, and in search of artists featured on the soundtrack. I found the soundtrack on Spotify, and I'm listening to specific artists collections. The ones I've enjoyed most so far are:

Gabby Pahinui, Ray Kane, Dennis Kamakahi, and Keola Beamer.

Anyone have any other favorites I should check out? Any albums in particular?

yeah i usually hate this kind of music but my love for the movie made it worm its way into my brain.

I think Israel Kamakawiwoʻole is an obvious. His work with Makaha Sons of Niʻihau is also very good.
