Yeah, they've been mentioned the both of the 2012 threads, but this album is getting so big, that I think that they deserve their own. Hell, I just heard "We Are Young" playing over the system at the damn Mazda dealer yesterday!

Yeah, I knew that the song was getting big, but that still kinda threw me for a loop. What threw me even more was that it didn't sound out of place.

Phil started a fun. thread, but it got sidetracked a bit.

A high school buddy posted an acoustic performance of "We Are Young," which I prefer over the original track.

I thought that I saw another thread about this (I even posted in there), but I couldn't find it with a search. Damnit.

The over the top Vocoder/Autotune on "Stars" took me off guard the first time I heard it, but I love it now - especially since I discovered that a lot of it is because the band was listening to a lot of Hip Hop at the time. Seriously great album though :)

I don't think I'll ever find a reason to like this band using Autotune...but I do like the majority of this CD, though. And it gave me a reason to give my son The Format's "Dog Problems"

The wife came home with this on vinyl 2 nights ago. She didn't know much about them but had heard them on internet radio and liked 'em a lot. As soon as he started singing I was like "oh that's the guy from The Format." She didn't believe me until I googled it.

I like some of it a lot, but the autotune bits are still jarringly annoying when I hear them at home. Also every fucking show they have is sold out, so yeah they must be getting a lot of play. Good on 'em.

that single is decent but the rest is sort of awful.

i'd rather listen to bryan scary if i wanted to hear something that sounds sort of like queen.

So, now that "We Are Young" is pretty much the biggest song in the world right now, what's the current verdict on this album?
Figure that by the lack of chatter about them around here these days that we are too indie to pay attention to them anymore. Fuck that. I love this band. And I think that the album is still one of the best of the year. It's great all the way through.

Although I do wish that I could escape the single somewhere outside of the confines of my own bedroom. I love that they band is getting some well-deserved success, but I hate that the overplay is most-likely going to kill a song that I really like.

I think this album is pretty easy to dismiss as weightless pop. There are a few reviews out there to that effect:

http://www.noripcord.com/reviews/music/fun/some-nights

I like it a lot though. Only one weak track on the album IMO and that's "It Gets Better".

I didn't hear the first fun. album, but as far as Nate Ruess projects go, this is definitely at the bottom.

There's a song or two that sounds a little too much like the pop "punk" bands of the 90s (but better), but the more I listen to this album the more I like it. Actually, I like it a lot.

This album has a little too much auto-tune (or vocoder, whatever. The Cher "Believe" effect) going on for my liking. Plus, it's so big and radio-compressed it makes my ears tired.

Some catchy hooks, though.

"We Are Young" is played a lot here, too, but it can't come close to how often that Gotye tune is being spun. Ugh.
