I didn't see any surprises. And if I did, they were the "I'm surprised people liked that shit" kind.

Only a handful on my list made it.

I am not surprised in the slightest.

White. Guilt.

We talked about this on the podcast last week...I think it's a totally unsurprising and actually somewhat comforting list. Shit, LooGAR was less critical of the list than I was. I mean, we all know that any crowdsourced list is going to skew to the predictable and contain x number of "how could they leave out_____? This list sucks!" moments.

Also, I would guess the mean age of the average voter to be about 31. Anyone disagree?

In fairness though it was music from the last 15 years.

Now I'll be the first to admit I'm not an expert on hip hop but there hasn't exactly been a plethora of great black artists that have emerged in the last 15 years has there?

Almost exclusively the black music I listen to comes from the dawn of recorded music to about 15 years ago.

Too much damn Radiohead. Way too much Radiohead.

I submitted a list. Not much of it made it to the composite list. Just the stuff you'd expect - Radiohead, Animal Collective, Outkast, etc.

The results aren't surprising but maybe a tiny bit disappointing. I should have, but I didn't expect it to skew so much toward recent years. And depressingly enough, people still aren't sick of Kanye or Bon Iver.

not at all. they're hands down the most interesting and consistent band during that period of time. not surprising they have so many albums at the top.

Had I known, I would have submitted a list. Nothing would have topped my top five of Living in Clip, N**** Please, Zaireeka, End Hits, & Wu-Tang Forever.

Next five would have been great, as well: OK Computer, The Greatest, Slim Shady LP, All Your Summer Songs, Pinkerton.

I think the list is predictable enough so as not to inspire much discussion. I kind of feel like this is a question we all already knew the answer to.

I had to read the thread again, but I don't think anybody here got worked up over Pitchfork.

On the other hand, this guy got worked up over Pitchfork

What would people want different? I really liked the list. Radiohea d, Kanye, Wilco... All mainstream and brilliant. I guess I must be the Pitchfork demographic... then I saw the graphic of ages of those who turned lists.. The sliver of over 40s.

Top 100 Albums of the CMJ Board Era (which we can say started in '00, since that's when Marianfudge/Tommy Two Thumbs started posting; & isn't he the longest-tenured Obner?), I suppose.

Oh, he belongs. On a list with Neutral Milk Hotel, Interpol, Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, and shit like the xx in the top 20, he fits in just fine.

Thom Yorke, as pictured at Slate, from a performance in 2011:

Thom Yorke, in 2005, per Google Image Search results for "thom yorke 2005":

Is Thom, then, the indie-rock Axl Rose, the British Jeremy Piven?

Agreed. I usually enjoy his insight on podcasts and whatever but he should be punched in the groin for that piece.

I'd love to know what his top 10 reggaeton, bachata, and salsa albums from 1996-2011 are.

To think that Pitchfork readers ignored those.
