Gonna surprise the Mrs. for X-Mas.

We only have one-two cups each per day, so we don't need anything too extravagant.

I'd like something that can produce at least an 18oz. cup.
Would love it to be able to do tea, hot chocolate, etc.. as well...

We also want to be able to use different brands of the k-cups, and not be limited to the same brand as the coffee maker, if that is an issue of the coffee maker world....we like options in flavors!

looking to keep it around 150-175 bux as well...

Is this doable? Whatcha suggest?

A Keurig sounds about right if you are only doing 1-2 cups a day, want tons of flavors, and don't want to pay a ton for a machine.

My wife got me one 2 years ago, and I dig it in the mornings. She mostly got it for her teas/chi tea, but I've come to like it as well. Tons of flavors, and you can still grind your own coffee (I do, and was surprised at the outcome).

The 18oz is gonna be a problem. My 16oz travel Klean Kanteen just fits under the nozzle. You may need to fill/pour. That is unless your mug is fatter than tall.

I hear that the new Keurig's do a 18oz, but yes, unless you order one of their special 180z mugs, there are problems getting it to fit under the nozzle, and if you do the pour/switch, you are gonna lose heat...

but for way less money you could have an aeropress, a hand burr grinder, a kettle, and some better beans. Oh and a scale to brew by weight. You'd create less waste, and you'd make awesome coffee. And it's fast. 1:30 brew time for a cup. I'm anti k-cup. I'm pro chemex/frenchpress/aeropress/siphon/clever dripper
