It's the only one that I own. I think I'll pick up a couple more, because I really like it a lot.

my album of the year so far

Seeing Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds play for the first time and especially during "Jubilee Street" the other night in Austin seriously affected me like no other concert has in the last 10 years.

I know I'm stating the obvious to long time fans, but Nick and the band posses something that elevates their performances to the upper echelon of any currently performing band. From the first note of "Higgs Boson Blues" began, they grabbed me by the mind and balls and never let go for one solitary second.

I'm getting chills down my spine listening to "Jubilee Street" right now. Holy fuck that show was amazing.

I'm really digging this one. Lo-fi tape loops come out of a sea of over-saturated tape hiss. Repetitive light melodies with crackle and distortion and occasional deep bass foundations. Pick one up on Worn Habit cassettes. http://wornhabit.blogspot.com/

Lantern: Dream Mine

Just saw these guys last night and even better live than on tape. Still, a fun listen to the recordings anyway, even with all the levels seriously pegged into the red. A bit of a distorted mess in places, but when it gels it's pretty killer. The Stooges cover gives you a hint where they're going. It'a all grimy and trashy, albeit a bit less straight ahead bashing out rock songs, which is really more how they come across live. Also saw some band called Sheer Agony with them who were a pleasant surprise. The venue and other bands had me expecting more loud trashy noise punk or something but they had more of a Television vibe with a couple dueling guitars with that clean ringing sound. Again, better live where they stretch out a bit than the single I heard where it's more just kinda quirky pop tunes.

Tons of Hendrix, specifically, the version of "Like a Rolling Stone" he did with the Butterfield Blues Band.

Also, Thao & the Get Down Stay Downs, Phosphorescent, and like four different Black/Funk Country comps.
