Kid Rock knows something that you and I don't. He's figured out the secret—the dirty, nasty, well-kept secret of American life, which is that rednecks, in general, have more fun than uppity liberal folk like me. If you're a redneck, you're not dropping $2,300 a month to live in a Park Slope utility closet. The radio plays songs you actually like. You're not waiting in line for hours to eat at a trendy restaurant that doesn't take reservations, because Applebee's is A-OK with you. Also A-OK: cheap, mass-produced beer. Plus, you get to shoot guns all the time. It's a remarkably enjoyable lifestyle, and the annual Kid Rock theme cruise, officially called Kid Rock's Chillin' the Most Cruise, now in its fourth year, is meant to be a raucous celebration of it, with Rock—a man who countrified the concept of "keeping it real"—as its Pied Piper.

Listen to how he is locked in with the kick drum.
Now, THIS is a groove.

I scored Helmet's AmRep 1992 LP release of Meantime (VG++) for $15. Nostalgia creampie at the moment.

found some nice old record catalogues inside some albums yesterday, these were available in Woolies in 1977

Image

Image

Island 4 Polydor 1

Image

a queer old mix of Bing Crosby, Slim Whitman and The Stranglers at their cheekiest on offer via United Artists Records (and tapes)

Image

metal racks to show off your pathetic collection of Yes and James Taylor LPs

Image

Derek Hobsons choice

Image

probably more reliable than the Mirror's pension scheme also on offer

Image

This is a budget label catalogue 94p was the price then but the value of it's entire selection has decreased over the years!

Image

just a flava of the shite on offer (apart from the Bowie & Blues albums of course)

Image

and the record player to play them on, pipe optional

One of my Facebook friends asked how large everyone's music collection was, and when I clicked on the comments, most people were answering in GBs and not total number of CDs or vinyl. So that's it now, huh?

That's it for now. But it might come back around to physical again.

I think so. I think the idea of a "digital collection" is definitely going to go away. It'll be more cloud-based, or Spotify or something like that which isn't really a collection anymore.

Which will mean that if you're talking about a "collection", you're talking about physical stuff.

Interesting points. I didn't think of any of that, but before I saw the comments it didn't occur to me to share anything but the physical total.
