I posted this within another thread a week or two ago, but figured I'd go ahead and give it its own thread, along with a link to my playlist of favorite 2014 songs (TOP 40!!!)...

PLAYLIST: http://open.spotify.com/user/bobsixtysix/playlist/3jRNMoQBCJbaiNrMvoysAT

ALSO...I didn't hear the Lydia Loveless and Jim Noir albums until after I made my list, but both would definitely have made the list. Lydia probably between 5-10, and Jim probably between 10-15.

You list is always so coherent. You are a centered person.

Thanks, harry! I always feel quite unmoored, though...

We always have a handful of crossovers, Bobbo. 1, 3, 11, 14 and 17 I really liked.

One spin of Hold Steady was enough for me. I liked DBT when I listen to it, but it didn't really grab me. Didn't get to see them play it live though, that had a lot to do with it.

I'll have to check out your playlist for the rest!

That's got to be the lowest that you've ever ranked a Spoon album, isn't it?

I have ignored Ex Hex, and should've gone to see them last night.

no, transference didn't make my list that year, and wouldn't if I had done a Top 100

I like this spoon much better than that one

I didn't like this hold steady album much at first, but it grew on me, and "on with the business" might be my second-favorite hold steady song ever

DBT is just solid - especially the first half

I listened to a mary timony album several years back and HATED IT, so I likely would never have given ex hex a shot, if not for seeing it touted by rads

On this, we can definitely agree.

I don't know if I noticed the Mac DeMarco on your list the first time I looked at it. I'm still trying to decide how I feel about that album, but it hasn't really grabbed me so far, not like II did. It hasn't even made as much of an impression as Rock and Roll Night Club which could feel almost uncomfortably sleazy.

That Real Estate album really is nice and is perfect for a day like today where the sun's shown itself for the first time in a week.

This is the only Mac DeMarco album I've heard, so it's quite conceivable that his other stuff is even better.
