1. Congolese funk/afrobeat/rumba
2. intense bass/synth punk/metal
3. Sleater-Kinney (Corin Tuckers sounds like Nancy Wilson+Geddy Lee)

Been wanting to listen to that MOPDTK album, but count me among the people who don't really "get it". I mean, I sort of get why they did it, but I also don't really think it's that good or that interesting an idea for a record.

There's a Peter Evans Quintet album from 2014 that I really need to listen to before making a year end list. I love Zebulon, and this one (Destination: Void) sounds really cool from what I've heard.

How's that Pharoah & The Underground thing?

I read somewhere that it was inspired or to do with the Borges short story, Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote, something about immersion and to re-create. I guess the classical guys do this a lot. They're good enough to pull it off though.

Yeah the Pharaoh & The Underground is pretty great, only a couple of spins so far. I had a quick listen to the Peter Evans Quintet but it didn't grab, I've only briefly touched 2014 jazz, spend the next month or so checking them out.

I've decided to listen to all my CDs* this year. I think I calculated something like 4.3 a day for the year should do it. I was going to post them here or on FB or something, but I really don't want to add more work to the cataloging and organizing and so forth. I might do a cut and paste thing at the end of the month? I really just want to relax and enjoy this.

Let's just say I'm ahead of pace, and I've listened to 60+ CDs** since Jan. 1st.

* About 2 years ago I listened to every compilation I own, so I consider those checked off the list already.

** Included are CD singles and EPs so there are days when can I squeeze in many CDs in a short amount of time.
