I recorded 2 songs back in January, and I just released the first of them.
Please listen. And, please download, if you like it. I've set the pricing for no minimum, so it's free, if you want.

Would love to hear what you think.

I like how tired the vocal sounds.

You should get Rocco to play some steel on the track.

as a whole I think it shows quite a bit of growth from chicken on a bike in terms of recording. I'd ditch the guitar solo because I'm fairly anti guitar solo in general. Now the acoustic break at the end is great. Come up with a part like that in place of the solo, and it would move it more into chris bell territory.

or cut Rocco loose on that break and it'd take it more Matthew Sweet (think evangeline).

95% of the vocal is great. But there's are a couple of phrases between 1:00 and 1:30 that are flat. If it's a comped vocal, i'd take a look at your other takes from that day and see if you sang anything more on top of the pitch in those phrases. You owe it to the song to look and see.

You should be pretty proud of this effort Todd.

Thanks, Phil!
I gave the whole band direction that we were going for something like a "Wild Horses" kind of sound with the production. So I think that Charlie took that to heart and tried to play that solo, without playing that solo, if you know what I mean.

Thanks, Jon!
I am not an engineer. My friend John (Happy Ashtray) was behind the board for this. But I think that he said it was just some reverb and a bit of slapback, if I remember right.

I really appreciate you both listening to it. Hope you like it.

I have another one coming in a week or 2 that is more Material Issue meets Hüsker Dü, or so I've been told.

Probably my favorite thing you've ever done - totally agree about the vocals!

Nice job Todd. I agree with Phil that some steel would be a great addition. I disagree with him about the solo though. Keep that.

I actually considered steel, but didn't want to go too much farther into country territory with the tune. That's why I added the Hammond… for that extra layer and texture, and little lift at the end.
But yeah, it's all done. This is the final mix. Not sure that I made that clear.
I still really do appreciate you guys listening to it and giving me that feedback. It is all welcome. I think that I am still growing as a producer and and this all gives me food for thought for future recordings, for sure.

So I'm in the minority. Nothing new. I'd check that vocal though

How do you keep making music without wanting to go kill yourself for 5 years and bang the idea of writer's block with a brick?

alright i wrote this song called "Being the movement" in about 4 mintues:

You were dancing on my grave as though I was alive
assuming a welcome back in lieu of spite

because I'm here
and we're all each other has to fear
so bring in the moment
seems as though you're dancing as if we're both stepping in time
a few more cheers and we'll make it through tonight

but when the wind gets cold
and your dove dies
I'll be filling that pussy
with a bunch of lies

bring in the moment

The streaming doesn't start for me. It just spins. Maybe it's blocked here at the office. :(
