I was just listening to indie 103.1 here in L.A., and heard this song, which immediately caught my ear. It's an awesome song, which to me sounds kinda folksy. I hunted around and found out it was by Matthew Sweet.

Are his albums worth checking out? I don't know if I have ever listened to his stuff at all.

Anyway, check out this song. It's incredibly good.

You need:
Girlfriend

100% Fun

Altered Beast (the album with that song on it)

In that order.

No sweat.
An added bonus is that his lead guitar players on all those albums are:
Rober Quine (The Voidoids, David Bowie, Lou Reed)
and
Richard Lloyd (Television)

Two of the greatest, ever IMO.

Yep, but Kim Ga Suki (which Todd probably doesn't have so its an honest mistake) is significantly better than Altered beast.

np: Yankees v Tigers

Pop Todd got it all right. Matthew Sweet is great, particularly the albums he mentioned. I actually got rid of Altered Beast some time ago for some reason, but now you guys are making me wish I still had it.

Exactly, except put Kimi Ga Suki before Altered Beast, like billy said.
Whatever you do, go get Girlfriend right this second.

I think "In Reverse" is underrated, too...there's a great album in there buried under a few uneccessary tracks.
