My first topic on this board suckas!

For me, the new Mos Def: The New Danger was an hour of pure, unadulterated crap.

bumblebeez 81 - printz

i tried to enjoy it, but it just wasn't happening. wasn't there an EP that they'd put out a year ago or so? i'd heard that and liked it enough to think that a full-length would be good, but i was sure wrong. i keep telling myself to give it another chance and not trade it in yet, but i doubt that'll happen.

Initially it was Iron & Wine's "Our Endless ... ", but whatta gross, putrid oversight that was. Aside from being awkwardly sequenced, I think it's gorgeous now.

Final answer: Bjork's "Medulla" - it's really quite a step down from anything she's done before, and really not that impressive except for a couple standout tracks. I am convicted in this belief, as I've given it much time to sink in.

Pedro The Lion - Achilles Heel

It certainly is not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but after the absolute perfection of Control, I really was expecting much, much more.

Failednumber, I love your avatar. By the way, Who could win a Rabbit?

My biggest disappointment, without a doubt:

The Walkmen - Bows + Arrows
Bah, i should never have bought this just for 'the Rat', the rest sounds as boring as Rod Stewart.

I thought the new Steve Earle flat out blew, especially "Condi, Condi". Steve needs to get his head out of the political ring a bit. Not that I mind political songs or political stances, but these are clearly not his best works.

I've got two:

Mclusky - The Difference between You and Me Is That I'm Not on Fire

and

Beta Band
- Heroes to Zeroes

I was ready for that Mclusky album to kick my ass a la Do Dallas and even the singles they put out like There Ain't No Fool in Fergesun and Undress for Success. However, the new one just doesn't seem as visceral as the others.

And ohhhhhh, the Beta Band. Thanks for going out with a wimper.

ps. Stu, that mum is a close third.

Really? I thought it was pretty strong myself. Then again, I like Method Man's new album too so I'm kinda lame. :(

Am I thi only one who thought the Mission of Burma album was dull and uninspired? This record was a huge disappointment to me.

I didn't like it either. It was my first Mission of Burma album though, so I didn't really know what to expect.

I assume they've done better, given how much I've heard about them. Any recommendations?

Odd selection for a first album, that's like getting a Black Sabbath album without Ozzy as your first one.

I know. It's a mistake I won't make again. From now on, if I want to check out a band that's been around for a while, I'll do some research.

So which album should I have started with?

Yeah, but depending on which one you get, you may not be too bad off.

As for Burma, get the old Rykodisk comp. It's 79 minutes long and has everything you need.

i changed my mind. i think it's probably the new Saul Williams.

I appreciate that he is trying something different....but it's pretty much annoying.
