Razorlight - Up All Night
I don't know what all the fuss is about the band. It's an okay listen. There's only one really great song called Vice but other than that, the rest is pretty blah. Personally, I think The Libertines' latest album kicks this album's ass. Perhaps, it'll grow on me.

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Shake The Sheets
All I can say is Ted Leo and his buddies are brilliant. Everything they record is brilliant. I even like this album better than Hearts of Oak and I loved that album. Definitely Top 5 material.

Le Tigre - This Island
People weren't kidding, this is some of the worst music ever recorded. There are probably 2 or 3 songs on here that try to keep this album alive but the rest are so bad that it's all in vain. There's a song called Nanny Nanny Boo Boo which has to be one of the worst songs ever. Terribly disappointed by this.

The Arcade Fire - Funeral
A masterpiece of an album. Every song is amazing and after repeated listens even better. Definitely Top 5 Material.

I like Razorlight quite a bit....but I didn't really like the Libertines album. Maybe I should give it another listen

Why did you buy the Le Tigre album?

I'm a huge Le Tigre fan but after this album, I may have to reconsider.

Yeah, I'm digging the Ted Leo album too. It's easily top 5 material this year.

I'm listening to Arcade Fire for the second time right now. I agree, it's really good. I don't know what KPH's problem was. He needs a talking to.

Likewise. I am REALLY diggin Razorlight right now, but I didn't really dig the Libertines album too much except for like 3 tracks: Can't Stand Me Now, The Ha Ha Wall, & What Katie Did.

Arcade Fire- on FIRST listen, I didn't get all the hype, but the more and more I listened to it- I am loving this album as well.

Ted Leo- love it. And it keeps growing on you more.

I disagree; "Up all Night" has more urgency, better songwriting, better SONGS, better playing, and better production than "The Libertines" (and i LIKE the Libertines record a lot)

Im with you on "Funeral"; i keep saying to people, "It gets better with every listen"; I though this would only be true for me personally for the first 50 listens or so, but no, it keeps getting better; probably the 2nd or 3rd best album of the year.

I want to hear all of the Ted Leo (heard a couple tracks on KEXP); shit im on AIM (GeneSkinner93) somebody SEND me the bastard...

Le Tigre? Kill yourself.

Even though I SHOULD be telling you to get your ass onto Clever Cactus, I still went ahead and zipped the new Leo for you, but you're not even logged into AIM right now. Work with me, man! Help me help you.

Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (reissue)

My initial thinking here is that all the good tracks were on the original album and I already had that.

nah, Kevin just doesn't like hopelessly pathetic lyrics and predictable turns of melody, which AF actually manage to make their specialty across the better part of Funeral.

come on guys, "we forgot all the names we used to know!"?????????? it's shit like that that keeps me from being a true connor oberst fan.

although, as i've said off and on this year, most of my favorite music hasn't been released nationally or even recorded (as in the case of my heroes, Night Rally*). so, "too indie for indie" probably translates as "caught up in local music" for me. if you spend 90% of your non-girlfriend/boyfriend social life following a city's music scene, this is bound to happen to the best of you, esp. when it's all this good!

KPH

* i've had it out with them about AF several times now, as they are just as excited about them as y'all.

so how was that for too indie for indie?

also, good call on the Pavement re-issue. it's cool and all, but i haven't found much of it to be as vital as a lot of the R&D extras (though some of that was a bit much, too). all the same, neat to relive hearing Pavement for the first time and whatnot.

Oh Kevin, I was just funnin' ya! :p

I haven't heard The Arcade Fire yet.

And, for the record, I love the only Bright Eyes tune I've ever heard. I think it's called "One Foot In Front Of the Other".
