On my way to chipotle I walk by this extremely attractive girl. I mean she's not the supermodel type at all, but she has an ecclectic appearance that I find ridiculously attractive and we exchange glances when I walk by. About 2 minutes later she walks into chipotle right behind me. I play it cool and act like I don't notice until she catches me looking at her when she went to sit down. I was kinda embarrassed so I didn't pay attention the rest of lunch until she left. I'm sitting in front of a huge window and she walks right in front of me, turns, looks me in the eye and smiles. Seriously, should I sat by her and offered her a bite of my delicious burrito or what? This happens to me all the time on trains (especially trains), public places, etc. I want to talk to a chica, but it seems totally inappropriate. I need a woman's point of view. If this has been discussed before...my bad.

ladies aren't going to help you with something this subtle. for situations like these you need my patented hamfisted approach, or perhaps that of a nickle whore.

I'm intrigued, but scared to ask what these approaches are.

actually, in all honesty, by the time that 4 or 5 awkward glances have been exchanged the moment is probably too awkward. i would start eating at that chipotle place every day 2 or 3 times and see if you catch her again.

well, I've been married for 9 years now, so my view may be a tad out of date, but....

As for trains, public places, etc., I would have no problem with a cute guy coming up to talk to me. I do it all the time. It reminds me that I can still flirt! For restaurants, was she by herself? If so, maybe a smile or two, and some small talk-- I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with a complete (albeit handsome) stranger sitting down with me while I ate my lunch. If she was with other women, then definitely don't approach, but just smile and wink as you leave.

Especially with the feedback you were getting (her checking you out, smiling at your, watching you check HER out, etc.), it sounds like it was a win-win situation. Who knows... maybe you'll run into her again soon!

She was by herself, she smiled at you, and walked by you again? Definitely wanted you to talk to her. I don't know about sitting down w/her while she was eating, I'd feel kinda weird if some stranger sat w/me while I was eating... but a simple hello would suffice.

I think most people are missing the point of the thread. I doubt I'll ever run into this girl again and I'm not going to start eating everyday at chippies because she smiled at me. I'm trying to figure out approaches to meeting ladies in public places. Wow, that sounds kind of desperate.

Smearing salsa on your chest is too subtle. I read an Ann Landers about a very similar situation, and she said that the best approach is to hold the burrito close to your crotch, as if it were your penis. Then slowly unwrap the foil as she watches, walk up to her, and ask if she'd like a bite.

That was a few years ago, though. I don't know if such quaint tactics would work today.
