...or is this illegal now too? I'd hate to see this go.

Isn't there some website that shows a list of labels that are RIAA bitches? We could just share tunes from the MP3-friendly labels, of which there are many.

Has the RIAA ever come down on a message board?

I say we ignore them.

(le sigh)

I really just want to post songs that I like. I don't want to have to look things up. Anyways, the songs are only available for a limited time if you use YSI. The Make-A-Mix is probably the most enjoyable thing to me here over at Obner...

It was good but I had a feeling it would die out due to fear.

You'd have to check with Aaron but I think it would be alright to post MP3's that are on band websites.

Otherwise I think he's right to be cautious about such things.

do you really think that the RIAA are gonna flag us for posting some obscure indie bands? i highly doubt it.

if anything, posting shit from these bands promotes them, and in many cases will move people to buy their records.

now, can i post another track from the new Coral album or what? :)

I agree with your argument but it just takes one asshole to cause a whole lot of trouble, as we've seen.

There are a TON of blogs that devote themselves to posting MP3s. I sometimes see whole albums, but for the most part, it's mix compilations of different bands. IMO, it'll be ok to continue to do the mix-a-day, but I'll defer to whatever Aaron decides.

I think a lot of our "obscure indie bands" are becoming less obscure so I'm afraid that even MP3s of the bands we generally discuss on here could get us in trouble.

I think a lot of our "Indie" bands are on major labels

some have connections [small label owned by Sony Music], but not all.

i guess we're better off not posting any then. :(

I'm really not nearly as concerned about "Hey check out this song" stuff, or even the Make-A-Mix threads, but of course you post at your own (and my) risk.
