I know this isn't music-worthy, but it means the world to me....

We got the results back from my dog Loon's lab work last night. She is now cancer-free. All of her excisions came back with clean margins, and two of the lumps we had removed turned out not to be mast cell tumors at all. Unfortunately, due to inflammation around the existing areas, needle aspirates sometimes come back as a false positives. That's what happened in our case.

She gets her staples and stitches removed next Friday, and hopefully we can remove the e-collar then too.

The next step is to wait and see. We'll continue to monitor her for unusual lumps on her body, and hopefully deal with them in a timely manner.

I just want to thank all of you again, for your kind words, positive vibes and concern. It's been a rough road for the last couple of months, and I truly believe if it hadn't been for all the positive energy Loon was getting, she never would have been able to beat this. I will admit, Loon is quite the scrapper when it comes to life, so I think her big spirit had a lot to do with it too.

So thanks... we're sending out big hugs, and Loon is sending out sloppy, wet kisses!

In the meantime, cue up The Cure's "The Perfect Girl" and play it in Loon's honor. She'd be pleased!

Excellent. I just dropped $500 on my car yesterday (which I'm convinced was Hyundai making things up again) so it's nice to get a little pick-me-up.

Yea, its good to hear yours is doing well. My family dog was put to sleep yesterday. It sucks, but she was in pain and was like 83 in dog years. I've been expecting that day to come for almost a year now.

I'm sorry to hear that... that's the only thing that sucks about dogs. It's inevitable that you're pretty much guaranteed to outlive them. Maybe that's why they're so great, because they cram so much love in a shorter lifetime. My heart goes to both of you.

My other dog is almost 12, Loon is 9, so I hope to have 3-5 more good years with one or both of them. I'll tell you what though-- going through the heartache of losing a pet will never prohibit me from getting dogs in the future... the benefits of having a canine companion in life far outweigh the drawbacks.

Yea I know, I can't wait to get a beagle pup in a few years when I have my own house and backyard.

Awesome! We're bringing three puppies home at the end of May, two permanent, one for Mom once we crate train him. Dogs rule.
