We caught them Friday night, and it was a decent show. The new material is actually pretty intriguing. Marty continues to think he is funnier than he actually is and did completely annoying David Lee Roth imitations for a while.

They switched up some of the songs and gave them a harder edge. The New Zealand band the Brunettes opened and were awful. The Shins announced that they are holing up to record the new album, so we should be seeing that soon.

Six Organs of Admittance are playing tonight, but the likelihood of me getting out to it is slim and none.

Saw them a couple nights before you in Salt Lake and my review would be very similar. Was really glad to hear some new stuff because aside from that, the setlist was pretty much identical to when I saw them last May. They did stretch out a couple tunes which sounded nice. I thought The Brunettes were ok in a small dose, but if you're not into sugary pop, I can see how you wouldn't be impressed. I mean, they make the Apples in Stereo look like the Cure. Twee with a capital T.
But if the new Shins tunes are an indication, the new record should be another great one. Here's hoping.
