I had a bottle of wine with dinner (no splitting that shit - I had the bottle all to myself). I'm about to open a second bottle and I'm working on an Afrobeat mix that I promised the Senator weeks ago.

Damn, its hard though. Think about it...Fela songs average 15-20 minutes....so you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't...how do you honestly make a good Afrobeat mix and only have one fela song on it but how can you really afford to put more than 2 on it and not have Fela overly dominate the mix. And if you are going to limit yourself to one fela song or even 2...which are the right ones. Right now I'm leaning towards a 160 minute mix with 2 fela songs on it. I make this decision and the rest will likely fall into place.

Anyways, when this bear is done, I might as well share it with the larger obner community. I always feel like when I post just a ysi link though that the people who really would appreciate it don't necessarily beat the race against time so I'm gonna pm the link(s) this time. Write me a 5 - 12 word essay on why you deserve a pm'ed link and I'll send it to the most deserving.

np: Fela Kuti

Its highly possible that a random combination of keystrokes could be a winning essay. I'm not asking for a lot of forethought

I like being the inspiration for such spirited thought about music, and I can't wait to hear this. I am sure that me bumping Afro beat will be another mind fuck throughout my office.

I've pretty much only heard some Fela and a couple of other African things you put on a world music mix a while back. I'd love to hear this mix when it's done.
