So easily Elliott Smith. B&S are cute, but their output is far less consistent and their songs tend to carry little if any weight at all.

Elliot Smith, because he's neither Belle nor Sebastian.

belle and sebastian. not sure why, maybe because their brand of pop is more 'bubble gum'? if that makes sense

tough and interesting choice. i guess i'd choose elliott just for the weight of his songs. belle and seb are good, but just not substantial enough...not that elliott is.

Radiohead/Beck is a completely civilized thread and Elliott Smith v Belle & Sebastian has created chaos.

Just proof of how mind-numbingly dull Radiohead and Beck are.

This is balls, Mahoney. Why pit two entirely different acts against each other? The only commonality I can find is both artists can be put to iPod. So, in my mind, this is a push.

B&S (mostly Tigermilk) was played to entertain gals with relatively no knowledge of music - I say gals bc the skirts at my college were immediately attracted to their effeminate sound. The same effect Stereolab has on chicks. Smith could be played to the same broads, but I'd guarantee a freshly used bong would be hiding somewhere in the room. They might serve a similar audience, but the music caters to polar opposite moods.

I still plan to get 'From a Basement...' and the new B&S ep.
