I want these but can't find em' here. Eventually I'll order them off the net.

I recently got into them and I sure do love 'em and it is this board and Mr. BeeOK that I have to thank.

ahem. they're one of the few bands that i'm willing to add otherwise extraneous positive comments to the board even when everyone else has said they like them too.

they must be good if Pitchfork says so. I already own what I want from them.

This thread rubbed me the wrong way, though. Chase posted what I was thinking.

Sorry if I hurt anyone’s feelings. I was at work and was trying to get this in while being busy. It was not supposed to sound the way that it did but it does have a point.

I have a reason why I said what I said. It has gotten to the point that I no longer post original content to this board because most of my posts aren’t getting responses. I have talked to a few of you about this situation already. I love and adore Obner so I just wonder if the majority is just sick of me? That’s the whole reason behind my sly comment.

BTW, not everyone on this board has talked about SFA. I only know of about a couple of handfuls, who have sung their praises, and I know who they are. Most on this board don't think they are that great however.

Edit: (next day) case in point!

what the fuck part of your posts is original content? everything that i've seen you post in the past few weeks is "ILM this" or "pitchfork that", and other than the occasional Boo Radley's post I can't think of what insight you've personally offered on any of it. If you want to try and stir discussion on these topics, fine, but don't try to paint youself as some kind of martyr who's fighting the good fight unnoticed. to me this is only slightly different than when Fast used to post exculsively to get people to visit his website and the crying about how people fail to appreciate it rings as hollow now as it did then.

Hey Chase ease up, any post about music on here gets 4 responses, but if you post some picture of a fat kid in a chicken costume, suddenly the post is on fire.

that may be true but the medium is what it is. i don't see the point in complaining about how no one likes to read lists from other sites anymore.

Yeah good point.. I was going to add some shit to the post, essentialy that whining about the lack of responses to BB posts is a warning sign down the sad lonely street of making a high school hit list or passing out live in a chat room, but I didnt want to be a catalyst..

yeah i think that that goes without saying. mind you, in think that i'm in agreement with the sentiment that i wish that i found more new music that mattered to me on here but i just don't have the time to devote to it anymore. i don't know that it's the board's fault.

The Stone Roses To Reform (June 5) - 20 replays with about 5 from me but ended up being about some else anyways.

What Creation Records band are you? (June 6) - 26 responses and can’t complain about that one.

Nuggets (June 3) – 9 replays

Screamadelica get remixed (June 2) - 2 replays

The Cure recent BS (June 1) – 9 replays and I think 6 are from me as well

I also think I have been a bit overboard about ILM as well. It is brand new to me and has been blowing my mind. There is a Boo Radleys thread that I didn’t start but has about 85 replays. That would never happen on this board and if you want to know why I love that group as much as I do head on over and read it. I never wanted to come to this board and try and steal people from it like Nathan did. I just LOVE music and it’s my passion above anything else. So if others that are like me, like so many on this board I think you should know about that board as well. Not to stop posting on Obner but to have one more place to visit on the web and that is all. But I also realize I have been going overboard about it and was not going to mention them as much anymore. People now know about it and will make their own decisions. So you won’t see me talking about ILM as much but will bring it up now and again.

I’m also not trying to come off the way I do at times. I just wish this board talked or was interested a bit more in music like the good old days. I love the non-music related posts on this board but it is becoming the more important part of this board.

Replays?

By my count, right now the Obner first page has 33 topics and 18 of them are directly related to music. That's over 50%, which isn't bad at all for a non-regulated board.

If you want a higher percentage of music topics, post 'em - but don't expect everybody to share a geeky obsession with the Boo Radleys and Britpop.

And stop whining, fer fucksakes.

alright lets put it like this: first, people here know about ILM - Ive been on ILM since the days of yore..when granpappy used to play music with body parts. Sure they talk about music (and are quite knowledgeable including the folks who write for various trade pubs and allmusic.com) - but I have to say there can be a level of pretentious BS that always irked me..the 'anti-rockist' mentally, where they think anything made in a third-world country elevates it categorically past rock.

Anyhow, the good old days ended with CMJ in 2002 - but I hear you on the music note... so enjoy ILM.. bring the music to the people

I have been getting more and more away from Britpop but I guess I will always have that stigma about me. Also I have only been bringing up the Boo Radleys because of the new Anthology that is coming out on July 4. I’m also trying to have a bit of an influence on what songs make it on to that comp.

Yeah, I know I need to stop whining. I just get too personally involved with things. Obner just means a lot to me and it’s hard for me to not be me.

ILM is hilarious, there was a thread on the production value of Curtis's vocals on LWTUA. I've been called a music geek before, but that crew takes geekdom to a new level.
