My good friend actually had lunch with Derek Lee yesterday in the Loop. It was part of something for her work. She said he was a super nice guy and willing to personally sign anything that was thrown at him. I was real happy to hear that!!

I'll be at Sunday's game!

my sister and fiance are going to the game. somehow my sister gets touched by the hand of god when cubs tickets go on sale. she always gets THE games (bosox, chisox, cardinals, etc etc), where as I get the mets and nationals.

sucks I have to follow today's game on the interweb though

Well at least all the dickheads in the city will be round up and isolated in a single neighborhood so the rest of us know where to stay out of.

the battle of two second place teams....can you say overhyped by ESPN ad nauseum?

I suppose the White Sox - Dodgers should be hyped to the gills because of their "classic" '59 WS, huh

You can take Laura out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of Laura.

Actually the attendance for the Sox is on pace to be the best in 11 seasons (back when, you know, they were outdrawing the cubs). For some reason ESPN has a love affair with the Cubs and Red Sox no matter how mediocre they are year-in and year-out.

because everybody loves the cubs. haven't you heard the song?

and I certainly hope that the whitesox set an attendance record for themselves. but I won't be surprised if they don't. the way that they are playing, it's a crime that place isn't at least 95% full every game.

They averaged 26,000 the last six game homestand...in a 38,000 seat park. It's not great, but it's certainly moving in the right direction. Once the neighborhood gets those Condos built (in about a year) that place will start filling.

You should've seen Wrigley from about 1983-93. 8 of the ten years the place was a desolate wasteland. Only in the past ten years (with the gentrification of Lakeview) has Wrigley and Cubdom become more popular than ever. In 10 years, Sox park will be packed most nights.

North side's big. We all know they don't leave their barracade of trendy bars during home games.
