According to Entertainment Weekly, Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) is now directing.

As long as Famke Janssen is still in it...according to IMDB, looks like she is, as are all the others (Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan, et al...Kelsey Grammer?!?!?).

I'm no fan of Ratner's work, but I thought he handled Red Dragon all right. He didn't fuck that up. Mind you, I was never a big fan of Mindhunter.

Blasphemy!! lol...then again, I'm perhaps TOO big of a fan of Michael Mann.....he can rarely do wrong in my mind, although, come to think of it...Ali was decidedly mediocre in my opinion

Are you both perhaps referring to Manhunter?

I wonder what's up with Rebecca Romijn-Letus? If she's not in it, I'm not purchasing it and single-frame-stepping through the scenes with her in it...

I heard on Stern that she's put on weight and they want her to lose like 30 lbs for the role.

I'm interested in Vinnie Jones playing the role of Juggernaut.

lol - yes. I was. I had thought that he wrote MANHUNTER - didn't pay attention to how it was spelled and just quoted his comment.

Michael Mann is fantastic, but fair is fair, he was early on in development as the pro he is today. I just watched Manhunter not to longer ago and I just thought it was fucking brutal. William Peterson is great in it, but I always thought most of the acting is a little tinny. Those slo-motion, stutter shots near the end when he shot Dollerhyde? It just seemed like some awful TV movie. I just watched Heat last week and couldn't believe the same guy did both movies. Best shoot-out ever.

Angel, Beast, Gambit, Shadowcat... Juggernaut...

I don't see this failing.

I thought the first two X-Men movies were very disappointing, so I'm glad they don't have the same director coming back.

If anyone was able to sit through the first two Harry Potter movies, then saw the third, you know the quantum leap in quality that can be made with a new director.

Unfortunately, Brett Ratner is no Alfonso Cuaron.

Rule of thumb: Other than (arguably) star wars the third installment of a movie is almost always a suckfest.

WHAT!?!!!????!!

I guess they wasted Chiklis on that Fantastic Four bullshit.

This just makes my pledge of never seeing a comic book movie again that much easier.

I bet it will be a voice-only part, and the Beast will be some Hulk-like CGI monstrosity.

I bet you're right.

Oh, the humanity. (Said in Kelsey Grammar deadpan style.)

Insert laugh-track here.

Definitely a bad sign. Though, I'm still hopeful it will be good. I thought X2 was excellent. One of the best comic book movies in my opinion. Kelsey Grammar could be cool as Beast.

he was in X2 as the beast as well, for a fleeting second. He was a news reporter on TV, yet to join the X-Men.
