What an asshole. Really.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

From NY Daily News
Lloyd Grove Formerly of Washington Post's Reliable Source

If Ralph Nader doesn't stop dropping the N-bomb, Al Sharpton is going to wash out his mouth with soap.

"Nader is not a racist by any stretch of the imagination," Sharpton told me yesterday. "He has a good track record. But he ought to be sensitive that he does not sanitize that word."

Speaking Wednesday night at a Washington fund-raiser to retire the debt from his 2004 presidential campaign, Nader complained that Democratic Party powerbrokers had kept him off the ballot in such Southern states as Georgia and Virginia - which reminded him of the oppressive Jim Crow laws that denied African-Americans equal rights.

"I felt like a [n-word]," remarked the 70-year-old white multimillionaire graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School.

Washington gadfly Evan Gahr reported Nader's comments on his chimpstein.com Web site.

"If Ed Koch had said what Ralph Nader said, we'd be marching," Sharpton noted. "This [scolding] doesn't rise to the level of a march. It rises to the level of a wrist slap."

Yesterday, Nader told me he was using the word in the same spirit as the Black Panthers of the 1960s - "as a word of defiance."

But Sharpton retorted: "He's not a Black Panther."

Democratic operative Harold Ickes - a former civil rights activist who lost a kidney in 1965 after being beaten to a pulp by white racists in Tallulah, La. - was also troubled by Nader's use of the epithet.

"It's not something that I would say," Ickes told me yesterday. "Having grown up in the 1950s and 1960s, I think it's not a word that whites can use.

"It's unfortunate and he may regret it."

Yeah, I see where he was going with that, but the goalie should've caught that one before it made it out. His situation is in no way comparable to Jim Crow laws.

... note the slack he was cut by Sharpton. Had this been Frist or somebody, there'd be a full-on riot right now. I mean the resulting reaction would've been Rodney King-esque at least.

Only me and Merle Haggard understand.

well, when there were 19 republican senators that refused to co-sponsor the anti-lynching legislation that recently passed and refused a roll-call vote, you should be able to see why conservatives get more slack for being racially insensitive than liberals

Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
Robert Bennett (R-UT)
Christopher Bond (R-MO)
Jim Bunning (R-KY)
Conrad Burns (R-MT)
Saxby Chambliss (R-GA)
Thad Cochran (R-MS)
John Cornyn (R-TX)
Michael Crapo (R-ID)
Michael Enzi (R-WY)
Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
Judd Gregg (R-NH)
Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Trent Lott (R-MS)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Richard Shelby (R-AL)
John Sununu (R-NH)
Craig Thomas (R-WY)
George Voinovich (R-OH)

oh, look trent lott shows up AGAIN?

Heh heh -- this article is pretty funny (not the subject matter, but the smart-ass writing).

First of all, you miss the argument yet again. Nader is wrong. It has nothing to do with anyone else. Not Republicans, not conservatives, no one. Only Ralph Nader and his obscene stupidity for tossing out known epithets in a lame attempt at sympathy.

Second of all, the anti-lynching resolution passed the Senate with Unanimous Consent on June 13. The resolution also had 86 Co-Sponsors, some of which are in bold above.

You post is also disingenuous because it omits Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) who originally appeared on this list of opposition.

How convenient you left him off though, you partisan fuckwit.

And your list was wrong. The resolution passed unanimously. So now what's your point of the list?

if a prominent Democrat had said this he would have been drug over the coals.

but no one cares about Nader anymore.
this is just proof of how irrelevant he is, he can't even say nigger and get attention.

no, i left him off on purpose knowing full well that it would be brought up--which it was.

its pretty hypocritical to call me partisan when your so quick to point out that one democrat. hillarious that republicans outnumber that one democrat 19-1.

i never said it didnt pass or that it didnt pass unanimously. i brought up senators that did not originally co-sponsor/senators that opposed a roll-call vote.

it passed by a voice vote, there is no record of how individual senators voted. so saying it was unanimous is misleading at best.

this passed on the 13th. so your correction of my list of senators is funny too:

Jim Bunning (R-KY)
Conrad Burns (R-MT)
Saxby Chambliss (R-GA)
Michael Crapo (R-ID)
Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
George Voinovich (R-OH)

they all decided to co-sponsor the bill on the day it was voted on or up to three days later on the 16th like orrin hatch.

Scotty,

I like your passion, but it's people like you and Borg who ultimately keep Republicans in power. Your their best friend not their enemy.

I had an awesome free form discussion with my candidate to and from a meeting in FL last night. It was interesting, because he was telling me about getting involved in a huge legal case against some of Roy Moore's allies. And whipping their asses. But now, they respect him. And some of the things he has done since gets those people to vote for him.

At first I was like "Fuck those people," but later I realized that its the "fuck those people" attitude that fucks us all. You gotta try to find common ground..from common ground comes understanding, comes compromise, comes GETTING SHIT DONE INSTEAD OF WHINING ABOUT IT.

This was part of the reason I found Gov. Richardson's recent speech interesting. He seemed to have some ideas, plus he raised no swords against the GOP. I'll explain in more detail later.

chris rock is a comedian.
i would have issue if Condi Rice called me a cracker.
(or like when my mayor said that the 'brothers and sisters' were running philly)

not a huge issue, but i'd be like, "whats up with that"
