I got my first tattoo yesterday.

I expected it to last about 30mins, but it was actually more like an hour and some. I had been contemplating it for about 2 years now. The design was something I drew myself: a kind of art nouveau-style lotus flower.

Whoa. What a cool experience. A little sore today but overall it was pretty low on the pain scale.

The coolest thing about it all was the fact that the tattoo artist was playing my favorite tunes the whole time(!!!).

I swear...

Tattoo parlour NP:

+The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
+Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup
+Siouxsie and the Banshees - The Singles (v1)

(the first two being two of my fav albums of all time)

Anyone else got some tats? What do you have? Any serendipitous tattoo NPs?

Better watch out. They can be addicting.

My wife has 2: an armband on her left arm and her "sun sign" (zodiac thig) on her right shoulderblade.

She contemplated getting more, but thought better of it.

And when people ask her how she'll feel about her tattoos when she's "old and flabby" her response is:
"When I'm old, if I'm flabby I won't like the way I look anyway so why the hell should I care if I have a tattoo?!?!"

She got them 12 years ago and... no regrets to this very day.

I considered getting one, but couldn't think of anything I wanted on me for the rest of my life. Now I have a massive head scar, which I think is much cooler, anyway.

jk. Congrats, Alex!
We want pictures.

todd you should get some kind of tatoo that incorporates your scar - like a snake or something. now that would be bad ass

What would be awesome is an old Spy vs. Spy-style bomb with the scar as the fuse.

Yeah, it was more about it being a specific symbol that means something to me than just the idea of a tattoo.

It's nice to hear your wife is still enjoying hers. Even though people say they're addictive I highly doubt I'll be getting a second one. I'm not much of the tattoo "type".

By the way... could you change your post so it's my screen name instead of my real one... I really want this place to be work-safe.

:)

You already know about mine. In fact this sunday will be its two year anniversary!

One day I'll get a picture of it up.

I want another though. I'm feeling that itch. As for what though, I don't know. I like going with original ideas, like I don't think anyone else probably has mine.

I keep teasing josh we should get matching tattoos. He has two already.

is it even possible to get a tattoo over a scar? i've got plenty i've considered adorning, but just assumed it would turn out really crappy. and i've got enough crappy tattoos for now. well, not crappy as much as i'm sick of lookin' at them.

Congrats! I've been wanting one for sometime and can't decide on a design yet. I'm leaning on something labyrinth like. I've done research off and on for awhile; now, I just need time to design it. I have no idea how big and where, yet. Of Course, the wife will have to approve, which she basically has already.

I've got 3. I'm going to get more when I can afford it. I've already pretty much decided on what I want.

Same thing on my other wrist though I have to get them done over because the guy who did them fucked up.
