So, everyone probably can surmise the type of music others like. Some of us listen to everything, some more specialized, etc. Most know I lovethe Stones and that brand of rock and roll. And hate indie rap.

Anyway, I was listening to Belle and Sebastian on the way to work, specifically "Stars of Track and Field" and I chuckled to myself when I thought what y'all would think of me listening to stuff like that. But I fucking love that album it's on, and have spent many a morning, hungover, driving back to wherever I was exiled to at the time, listening to it at top volume and singing along.

Anyone else wanna share? Feel free to also not post, and start a thread about how no one talks about music anymore ;)

If You're Feeling Sinister is great, as are their early EPs.

I'm not sure what I could say that would surprise anyone. I'm not really sure what the general perception of my taste is. Also, I just don't think I listen to anything surprising.

Those who think I'm only about Belle & Sebastian kind of music might do a doubletake if they saw me blasting Type O Negative and Voivod.

I'm not sure what people perception of my taste is either.

<-------But this man is more than a stylish haircut in my opinion, but I've mentioned that before.

Dear Catastophe Waitress is very good in my opinion. It's a close 2nd or third with Sinister and Tigermilk for me.

I don't know what people think my tastes are either. I'll pretty much listen to anything once. But every once in a while I'll crank some Robert Johnson or Son House. I've even been known to listen to Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline before.

no matter the time or place, I stop everything I'm doing when "St. Elmo's Fire" by John Parr comes on the radio. I once almost broke my roommate's hand when it started playing and he tried to change the station.

Also, BIG Young M.C. fan.

I think I'm the same way - people are less surprised by who/what I listen to than what I don't listen to....I figure it's all just one big mixed bag anyways...

Then again, I was half-slandered last weekend by someone saying that everything on my IPod "is just like Pinback", so perhaps my Craig Mack and/or Iron Maiden would've thrown her for a loop....

Shocked or not shocked, but it is fairly well documented that I'm attempting to amass the most digusting library of shitty pop hits from the 1970s. Right now the list is around 4000+ songs and going strong, including multiple tracks by the likes of George Baker Selection; Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds; and Sugarloaf.

Pet Shop Boys are a great band and 'Introspective' is one of my favourite albums.

People know I have a pretty quirky/all-encompassing taste in music. They're probably most shocked when they find me listening to Stone Temple Pilots or Blind Melon or something along those lines.

I love me some Purple/Soup.

because they really sound more like soul pop rock albums(in the vein of Sade, Annie Lennox)I just gotta a thing for Spiteri I can't explain.

But, I would not dare apologize for White on Blonde, that's just a good album.

Yeah, I listen to everything (except freakin' Belle & Sebastian!!!) so I don't think people really have an idea of how my tastes sway.

I will say that Billzebub has surprised me a bunch of times. Just when I think I've got him pegged as a indie snob, never heard of any of the shit he listens to, everything after 1979 sucks douchebag, I find out he's been listening to ________ and I'm forced to reevaluate.

But what is life without surprises.

I was going to start a thread that is titled 'People's NPs who consistently impress/intrigue you" with you as the main one. Always have an interesting and wide ranging bunch of albums.

I wouldn't say so. First album I ever bought was by The Jackson 5 and I still put 'em on every now and then.

I think in a past I might have been a dancer in a gay club. There's something about Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Pet Shop Boys and Erasure that gets miy hips gyrating. This is not a pleasant sight and one YOU are not likely to witness.
