So the remnants of the tropical storm came rolling through the ATL last night exacting a particularly heavy blow to the Southside of the city where I live and work...

High/Lowlights

-5 inches of rain fell in less than 2 hours (havent gotten a total yet because my rain gauge doesnt go any higher than 6.

-Water jumped the drainage ditch behind Redlands causing a literal river to wash through my backyard, filling up my reserve septic tank (1000 gallons) setting off the pump alarm etc.

-When I went to investigate the water was almost waste deep and I had to climb on my fence to get out.

-Lots of trees down/ power outages etc.

-$40 million worth of damage at Atlanta Motor Speedway; apparently a tornado took down two of the scoring towers and messed up the condos and luxury boxes something fierce.....

It wasnt a very fun night.

See? God hates Nascar. First he kills Earnhardt, and now this.

Damn, dude. I was thinking about Redlands when I saw this shee on the news.

Surprised it got that bad. Hope all is well, dude. Does Hersh now occupy a house boat?

Actually God is punishing Georgia for becoming too Yankee-ized. God hates condos and luxury boxes. He waxes poetic about the good ol days when Nascar was a bunch of dudes racing around a Piggly Wiggly parking lot for a case of beer.

And everybody knows that  AGENT OF THE DEVIL STERLING MARLIN  killed E (before Baby Jesus took him home)

And I managed to get Hersh into the garage before it got too bad, Sen.

You sir, are a genius. And speak truth to power to boot.

Glad to hear you and Hersh are OK.

Exactly. (didnt hurt that Bobby Allison probably could have won on a John Deere tractor)

And when fucking TOYOTA starts running Cup cars in a couple years, expect to regularly see plagues of locusts, frogs, wild dogs, and other Old Testament shit.

I actually said to Christine, "Dammit, why did I pick up all that shit, it would be downstream by now"

At least it did douche all the filthy germs away.

It comes pretty easy when the two times you've been, you've been harrassed, once because you dared to bring your black wife and another time when you showed up with an Indian co-worker and his family(with kids!!).

Have never experienced anything like that at any other sporting event.

And before my Atlanta buddies jump on me, we're not talkin' about one or two people. I'm a fairly big guy, but you can't fight a mob.

That sucks man. I have never been to a race, but I will say that I saw a 450lb dude get the shit beat out of him at Hank, Jr. concert by two of the biggest rednecks I have ever seen, for the sole reason that he had on a KKK t-shirt. Gave me hope for a brief instant.

Shit, I aint making excuses for any ignorant assholes; unfortunately, in addition to the predominance of families and fully evolved human beings at races, there are still some humanoids. And though there are certainly a lot less than there used to be, its still out there.

What's funny is that my businesses are in Clayton County which 15-20 years ago was easily the most backass, openly rascist place in Metro Atlanta. Now that the county is 60% African American, I've noticed that there are more "interacial" relationships than anywhere I have ever seen.

I actually think that this is a pretty positive thing, though not everyone (including one of my employees) thinks so.....

Kind of related. I heard Coonasses hydrosliding behind their cars in Grand Isle, Louisiana made the top ten plays on Sportscenter. That's awesome.

Houma had surprisingly little rain and wind considering Lafourche Parish took it pretty good.

Indian? Not feathered, I'd presume, given that Andrew Jackson made sure to clear all the red but is on the clay from Georgia and other points in the Southeast.

Actually, I'm beginning to think that you are an agent of the LORD, oldbulee, because if you weren't there, I can see no reason why a storm shouldn't wipe Terrebonne Parish off the face of the earth.

Also, he manages to drop a Coonass Militia reference; fully realizing that only about 4 people have any idea what that is.

actually it's my skills in black magic and voodoo that has kept us dry so far.

Everyone is freaking out about Dennis. Most just feel that we've dodge the bullet for too long and our time has come. My parents never leave for storms and my mom called today and said she booked rooms for the family Shreveport. In the past people have been so flippant about Hurricanes, but people are really spooked this season.

EDIT - On second thought I think my parents just want to gamble in Shreveport this weekend.

Yeah, folks are freaking here as well. After the dodged bullet that was Ivan, many feel the same way about Mobile. I hope the same thing happens as Ivan: I get to evacuate for a week in ATL , we get a lot of rain, and not much damage.

Not that I want any other place to take the hit, but fuck my life would get thrown into dissaray by a direct hit of a Slurricane on the 'Bile.
