I'm really toying with the idea of picking up the Fiery Furnaces as I have liked what I have heard thus far. What has made you cease your head scratching, is it Blueberry Boat?

I loved the first Fiery Furnaces. I found Blueberry Boat to be be lacking in specific song structure the first couple of times I heard it. But, the complexity, humor and MUCHNESS of the album has since sunken in. Yay!

You have convinced me, so I shall order it this evening. I've got the last two Fiery Furnaces albums sitting in my shopping cart in Amazon. Now I just need a third album for free shipping.

I keep thinking this will happen with the Fiery Furnaces, but it's just so stupid. But so many people who like other stuff I like like them, like, y'know?

The same thing happened to my with Blueberry Boat. My first couple of listens it was like nails on a chalkboard. Then it clicked.

Something similar happened to my recently with Animal Collective - Sung Tongs and with cLOUDDEAD - Ten.

Max, NOT being argumentative. Just don't get how Aimee Mann could be a WTF?.

I mean, she's pretty straightforward. Great tunesmith, clever lyrics, nice voice.

Nothing inaccessible about her.

It took me awhile to come around on Guitar Wolf...all the noise didn't click at first.

The Til Tuesday stuff kept me away from giving her a chance for years. Once I got past that, though, I love her stuff.

Now, of course, I don't even mind the old Til Tuesday stuff. At the time, though, I was deep in an anti-80s mood.

I'm guessing they're a little too jammy based on the stuff you like that I'm familiar with, but which albums are you listening to? Are "Vitamin C", "Sing Swan Song", "Mushroom", "Paperhouse", "Moonshake", and "Spoon" just not doing it for you at all?

Sad.

I'll second the Animal Collective for this one - though I think hearing the Panda Bear album helped me a bit...
Also, I was indifferent/kinda liked Deerhoof until a few weeks ago, and now I'm semi-obsessed...
And I've tried w/the Fiery Furnaces - I'd be very surprised if they came around for me at this point..

Sad? Because your tastes are so much greater and all-encompassing than anybody else's? Go back to your indie handbook AND MAKE SURE YOU READ THE PREFACE THIS TIME.

...

I just like those songs a lot. It would nice if other people liked them, too. Then we could agree on something and have fun times in our agreement and appreciation of things we love.

BUT YOU SHOULD REALLY GET THE FUCK OFF YOUR JADED ASSHOLE SOAPBOX YOU'VE SOMEHOW ENDED UP ON TODAY.

Seriously.

I fixed your post so it was more true to your intent. You're welcome.

You're engaging in some sort of imaginary crusade here. It's puzzling.
