Since it's "officially" midseason (and since I somehow snuck into first place last night), Thought I'd post the Obnerball 2 Fantasy Baseball standings. Though our league has been bereft of trades, it's been good times so far, and if anyone wants to make me a decent offer, I'm always up to deal...

1 Great Santo's Ghost! 81-56-3 .589 - 10-0-0 9 17
2 The Philly Blunts 76-55-9 .575 2 4-6-0 10 9
3 Ear Bleeding Country 70-58-12 .543 6.5 5-5-0 1 31
4 West of Dale Sveum 69-63-8 .521 9.5 4-4-2 6 7
5 Otis Nixon's Revenge 65-62-13 .511 11 4-4-2 3 9
6 Dolls Are Mine 66-65-9 .504 12 0-10-0 2 9
7 Twilight's Yankees 65-69-6 .486 14.5 6-4-0 5 15
8 Rushmore Beekeepers 64-73-3 .468 17 5-5-0 8 16
9 Bolsheviks in Space 62-73-5 .461 18 1-9-0 4 10
10 the thrillhouse 46-90-4 .343 34.5 9-1-0 7 7

About that Obnerball 1 league - 'Ow's it goin' over there? Come on - I showed you mine...

Quick-take: West of Dale Sveum was cruising until making the Beckett-Zito for Pineiro-Affeldt trade. Whether it hurt me in the standings or not -- and I do not think it did (Brett Myers's monster season (he's the Derrek Lee of SP, coming from nowhere to rock it) has saved me, along with Bonderman's development, in the area of pitching) -- it upset team chemistry irreparably. Vlad Guerrero went to the DL when he busted his hand on a weight-set that he had smacked in disgust at the loss of Future Cy (Beckett) and Past Cy (Zito). Orlando Cabrera has been a disappointment, when available, but otherwise, mostly hurt. Dunn and Mauer have been erratic.

But if I win this year, it will be with pitching.

... Come on, Burnett -- you have a twenty strikeout game in ye. Do it.

I've had an injury plagued first half.

Starters that I have lost to injury for the year:

Nomar Garciaparra
Clint Barnes (was putting up rookie of the year numbers until he FELL DOWN SOME FUCKING STAIRS!)
Jeff Bagwell
J.D. Drew

Then I've lost these for over a month:

Chipper Jones
Roy Halladay

With all that I'm still over .500. Not bad all things considered.

I'm in third place in Obner 2 and plan on having the title in my hands come October. My outfield is stacked, the only think I seem to lack from time to time are stolen bases. I find myself losing that category frequently it seems.

I was slowly climbing in the Obnerball 2 rankings (up to sixth last week), but a 9-1 drubbing at the hands of Mendoza Line has dumped me back to ninth. I have good hitters, but my pitching has let me down for the most part (even though I do have Buehrle and Garland). Maybe Kerry Wood and Curt Schilling can get over their injuries and help me out after the All-Star Break.

Hitting-wise, I stole Derrek Lee in the ELEVENTH round of our draft, and Brian Roberts has also been a huge steal for me (SEVENTEENTH ROUND). Vlad is coming around, and Chavez is too.

It's been an interesting year for the "Eisenreich Is King" team this year, what with losing Garcaiparra and Gagne and Aubrey Huff stinking up the joint, but picking up Garland as a free agent. I just hope the second half shapes up better for me.

I've been in first for most of the season and dropped to 2nd with a bad week last week..Need to get my starting pitching off the dl..(Schilling, O. Hernandez, Hampton)

My batters are doing ok, Scotty P.(White Sox) is getting me like 4-5 sb a week by himself and F. Thomas came off the dl the other week like a man on a mission...

Still half to go, so well see...

injuries have also been a major theme to my team this season. right now, i have orlando cabrera (disappointing anyway), milton bradley (sporadic, but usually worthwhile), roy halladay (working on perhaps another cy young), oliver perez (came back nicely after a horrendous spring only to let his temper get the best of him in a game that ended up in extra innings), and adam eaton (giving me a solid start every week) on the DL.

for the first time in 3 seasons, i'm consistently getting some saves and stolen bases. now if only todd helton could return to being todd helton and my starters could stay healthy (in addition to those on the DL, a slew of players have had minor injuries keeping them out for maybe a week at a time), i might have a shot at doing pretty well.

Yeah, I've been hit with the injury bug as well, with Gagne out for the year, and Eaton, Lyon, & Izturis out currently in addition to Beckett, who's on for the second or third time since I got him.... Plus, I now have 2 drafted outfielders (Alex "Steriods" Sanchez and now Corey Patterson) who have been Designated so far this season...

and, though it doesn't look as fair in hindsight (despite Beckett's oft-injured persona), I think you got Piniero, Affeldt, and OCabrera when you didn't have a solid SS and needed saves...

just saying...

I'm pretty much still rolling in league 2 but haven't been quite as dominating over the past 3 weeks or so and I'm sure it's a sign of me slowing down. Doesn't help that Johan Santana has been sucking for over a month now with nearly a 6 era and 0 wins ...grumble grumble. Thankfully Carpenter, Capuano, Garcia, and Loaiza have been solid while Santana's been struggling. Also, despite only 17 rbis and 0 hrs, it's nice to have Posednik good for a victory in steals virtually every week.

Interestingly, at least to me, I haven't lost a weekly series this year even when I was on the ropes a couple of times (paging Wallbangers). The only tie (5-5) I've had was in June to OPA.

So bring it on. Up 15 games and have TimmyJoe up next.

you beat me 8-0...it was closer than the score indicated, but still, 8-0.

It'll be close in the playoffs in that league, there are like six teams with quality squads.

I used to think I was one of those quality squads, but now I'm really starting to doubt myself.

Are you including "Eisenreich Is King" as a quality squad, or is it over for me already?!!? ;)

you don't have many saves, but your lineup is solid...Wood seems to be back on his game and if Pavano and Schilling come off the DL, I'd say your'e a force to reckon with.

my guys have just been consistently inconsistent.
example: beat 1st place Philly Blunts only to lose to the 10th place thrillhouse the next week.

wtf?
