john is the best.
the easy way out would be to ridicule him and have everyone clappy clappy.

be he had an actual discussion, something the real news networks only flirt with on sunday mornings.

I know everybody loves him, but does anyone else feel like Jon Stewart's just Adam Sandler but with politics?

Hmmm. I'm not seeing the comparison. What do you mean?

I think JS is an extremely intelligent, thoughtful, sharp, quick-witted comedian; Sandler---not so much. Although not much of a compliment, Sandler is probably a better actor---have you seen Half-Baked?

I would have freaking out on Santorum, while Stewart and his audience were fairly nice to him. All he said for most of his appearance was that a man/woman marriage is the foundation of society. He didn't really back it up with anything and couldn't really further his cause any. He came off as a complete homophobe who was acting polite for the camera.
I think he seemed genuinely scared and intimidated to be on the Daily Show.

Seems like an unnecessarily high percentage of his comedy comes from goofy faces and voices, sometimes ones that uncannily resemble billy madisons'. Then I also don't think he's nearly as incisive as the liberal rah-rah crowd gives him credit for.

I like him better than Sandler, whom I detest, but Stewart ain't the genius he gets played up to be.

Your last sentence is pretty dead-on.

Just because you can crush the batting practice fastball doesn't mean you belong in the Hall of Fame.

i heard santorum being interviewed on rush limbaugh's radio program last week and could not keep myself from laughing.

it seems that rick santorum is promoting his new book "it takes a family" whose title is a clear shot at hillary clinton's book "it takes a village"

anyway, after telling a story about a brief encounter with hillary clinton in a senate hallway in which they traded shots:

"remember rick, it takes a village"

"no hillary, it takes a family"

he disclosed that he has not read hillary's book but did "skim through it"

rick santorum went on to answer a question reguarding just why he wrote this book. he started lamenting the fact that television, movies, teachers, schools were not doing anything to help raise children in america today.......

i was pretty dumbfounded. after taking shots at hillary clinton and stating he had not read her book, he went on to agree with the very premise of her book.....

snatorum looked a little nervous at best, but he handled himself ewll (i mean, you think this guy can say this shit he does and still sweat it over appearing on a liberal-tinted show? come on...)\

as far as the sandler comparisons, i don't see it. I wish he'd cut the damned jerry lewis impersonations though

If Rendell can be Governer, i honestly believe that Santorum has no shot at winning reelection for the Senate.

This is a book in which he basically denounces public education as evil.

As to Stewart: he is snarky and much of his shtick relies on that knowing eye-roll or look, but he is far from Sandler. I think he is great at what he does, but agree with the premise that he is shooting fish in a barrel.

I would like to see him/the show move back into the middle where they hold both sides more accountable. I mean, Republicans suck, but Democrats are just as bad.

But they're not in power, which I think is the main factor that determines what political humor/satire becomes popular. Rush Limbaugh would never admit it, but Clinton's election was the best thing to ever happen to his career. EDIT: english's no good.

This is true, but someone who is "on their side" should point out how ridiculous they are, and how in their current state they have ZERO chance of ever regaining power.

I agree, and the Daily Show is a more appropriate vehicle that than most. I just don't see it happening there.

the very will to resist the following points on santorum makes him a better man than me:

-likening gay sex to bestiality
-the fucking dead baby photos SERIOUSLY
and of course my favorite:
-TRYING TO ENACT A LAW REQUIRING DOGS TO WEAR SEAT BELTS that a 6th grader thought up.

this guy would be the easiest person to ridicule, and it weirds me out that nobody is doing it, considering the fucking awful shit that he lets loose on the floor.

on an entirely unrelated note, has anyone seen that they're trying to ban smoking in CARS in jersey? are you fucking kidding me? It's retarded enough these people aren't allowed to pump their own gas, but THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO SMOKE?
