Mobile, AL would be Downbound Train by Bruce Springsteen because "Now I work down at the carwash WHERE ALL IT EVER DOES IS RAIN"

Every day. Between noon and 6pm, the sky opens up, and our fucking streets turn into lakes, and many times one of my offices loses power.

I hope Sufjan can incorporate this into his "Alabama" album.

I see you geniuses are really using the old thinking caps today. I suppose I should have gone with "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" but that's not really the point of this thread, now IS IT?

I don't think anybody has made a song that gets Houma quite right.

Can we include city names, here, too people.

Is Houma really that kinda town, oldbul?

I saw a car from there today...I gave em about 20 yards of room, and then turned off the road quickly ;)

First song that came to mind when thinking about LA.

For alot of people here I would say yes. It's an oil and gas town, and that pretty much dictates everything. We are a hub for the Oil companies where the piplines come in from offshore.

Of course it's not all bleak but that song captures the spirit of alot men here who begin working off shore right after high school to me.

Also so much unrealized poetential as a town. Squandered so many natural resources. It could be alot more than it is.

Flint, MI = "My Hometown" by Springsteen. Play that while driving into town on a grey day and it's nigh on impossible to not get depressed as hell.
Actually, Hank Rollins did a spoken word visit at MSU in '99 and had a bit talking about Flint where he equated it to a Bruce Springsteen album come to life.
Teh funny.

Runner-up winner: Sufjan Stevens - Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid)

HAHA. Good call(s) chad. That is far and away my favorite Sufjan song.

True. We do have more than our fair share of absolute morons, and we there is no way another city has less intelliegent leaders. I have a feeling the Sen. will disagree b/c he meets alot of politicans. But I'll see if I can't dig up a picture of our last mayor to illustrate.

For the tranquil ATL suburbs, where the next meth-based rampage is probably only minutes away and more specifically, to my little street where my three immediate neighbors all have honest-to-god stay-at-home mothers who even mow the lawns in place of their puscatore husbands, I offer up---MOTHERS LITTLE HELPER - THE ROLLING STONES

what a drag indeed......

I always think of "Home of the Body Bag" cos any time you mention LA one of my boys always says "Oh, you mean the Home of the Body Bag?"

Also, King Tee OWNS!
