It's a good album, but I'm just not familiar enough with it yet to include it on my list at this point. I've given it one full listen.

Is it any good? The only Saint Etienne i've heard is that 'Travel Edition' comp which is obviously great.

Yeah, if you think the Travel Edition is great then you'll probably enjoy it. It seemed pretty damn good from the one listen I gave it, definitely better than Good Humor (if you've heard some songs from that). I can YSI you this if you want, in return for the Goldfrapp.

I would have liked to say Goldfrapp, but it's not really that great. The new Ladytron's fantastic, and very poppy, but im not sure that's exactly what you're after. There's a new Junior Senior album out I think, that might be up your alley. You possibly become a little less straight every minute you listen to Junior Senior though.

Bobby Valentino's album is really nice. The production is unique for a Top-40 R&B record and Valentino himself is a pretty good songwriter.

Every album in my current top 10 has already been mentioned, so I can't really add anything. One band that caught my ear and I've really enjoyed the songs that I've downloaded/heard is Paul Is Dead.

Oh, and as long as we are identifying what seems worthless music to us... Anthony and the Johnsons? Ladies and gentlemen of the jury... this is not listenable, IMHO. Screetchy, solipcistic musical dump site.

Well, it's already on my radar, so you're headed in the right direction.

:-D I feel Kylie does the same thing to me, and I'm alright with that, so will put it on my list.

Thanks to all for all the suggestions, I'll check the others out as well.

Makes No Sense At All re: The Wedding Present Wrote:

Yes, but don't start with them by getting Take Fountain. Get Seamonsters. Trust me.

For starters I would recommend either George Best, being that it's the greatest album ever made, or Bizarro. Bizzarro and George Best I believe are their accessible--Seamonsters tends to be on the noisy side (not to say that it isn't great, but I find that Gedge's songwriting skills are more pronounced on the first two.

Also, lots of people seem to dislike Saturnalia, not me, I think it's amazing.

Another remarkable thing about the Weddoes is the adventurous course they plot when playing cover tunes: Orange Juice, Close Lobsters, Bowie's "Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family (not many folks can take on that one and make something of it), Pavement, et al.

Once you get a few albums under your belt, try and get your hands on a copy of the Ukranians ep.

Opa, if you're exceedingly nice to me, I could be convinced to whip up a compilation for you.

no Robyn. She's from Sweden, had some crossover success here on top40 radio in the 90s. Her new album is really badass.
