I have absolutely no idea how someone who enjoyed the UK Office could not find much to enjoy in the US one. Yeah, so it's less subtle and realistic than the UK one, but it's pretty damn close in spirit most of the time. Had you not seen the UK version, you'd think NBC's version was hilarious, I bet. Last week's holiday-party episode was damn near perfect.

I pretty much hate TV, or more appropriate the idiot box!

Without him, the show's just another Law & Order. It's one of the most eccentric and endlessly amusing performances I've seen on TV. He finds new ways to invade suspects' personal space each week, his body language is more reptilian than human, he's remarkable at restrained menace and even better at post-arrest disgust - where you realize he despises most of the criminals and is only holding that in to do his job.

A fascinating actor.

Possibly the worst show in TV's history (and remember I grew up with WTBS, and fucking Mama's Family) that dude's monger-moaning, and sniffing of suspects just makes me feel creepy. Worse than Peter O'Toole in Troy. I keep waiting for D'Onofrio's dungeon to be revealed, because that guy's proclivities are decidedly NOT LEGAL.

Ex Lion Tame -- I remember the Sinat thing of which you speak, and also the "Patty-Patty-Buck-Buck? WRONG!!!" as well

Is it still as good as it used to be? Man I was addicted to that show, I used to love watching Jack Germond sink deeper and deeper into that chair of his.

Honestly I wanted to like it as I am really fond of the UK version. It's been the actor's delivery of the material that I just don't find it funny.

Thanks for correcting me too. For some reason I had Robbie Coltrane/Ricky Gervais' names morphed together. Chubby Brits confusion.

Jack Germond belongs in Federal Prison. Same with David Broder.

i've actually been really impressed with how the american Office does its own thing compared to the original, and i think that it stands on itw own. What i find really interesting is that it stays on TV not because anyone is watching it, but because the people that watch it have the highest income of any demographic. THAT'S america.

See, my read on his performance is that he out-creeps and out-intimidates the mongers, basically lets them know "I know what you are, you sick fuck." After the arrest you can often see he's horrified at what he's just had to crawl through. The show would be very ordinary without him, I think.

He's Like George C Scott in Hardcore, but in a Vince Vaughn suit.

I do like the reptilian you throw in there, and invasion of personal space...you nail the description better than I, it just creeps me out so much I can't watch it.

Also, now that its back on, the answer to this question is: THE GAUNTLET

really? where'd you hear this?

I think I like the US version of the office more than the UK. and I really liked the UK version. The first few episodes of the US are just ripped plotlines, but since then it's just gotten so much better.

How did Greg Daniels create such a cavalcade of suck known as King of the Hill?

You got it in reverse, boyo. Why did he start huffing fuel and create that shitstorm of anti-humour known as The Office. King is awesome.

Maybe I'm hard selling, but it's been consistenly entertaining for 10 years and has been getting better over that time. Extremely few shows last that long and fewer still get better with age. No way will The Office do that. If it does, I owe you a $1 USD.

Absolute, unmitigated GARBAGE. Hate that dude and his cockier, holier than thou, I'm going to trick a confession out of you bs persona.

A big taint on the Law and Order franchise although they seem to be moving away from the hot as hell deputy assistant DA formula which served them so well for years.

Perhaps you should contact the proper authorities. Or better yet, see if you own a belt that can support your weight when suspended from a shower curtain rod.

I'm sorry it makes you so uncomfortable that quite a few of us lead fulfilling multi-dimensional lives. Perhaps our New Year's Resolution should be to lay down our own cultural and political interests in order to make you shut the fuck up.

I'd much rather see topics across wide and varied topics than the same chronic masturbator sending up thread after thread about the Boo Radleys. The short history of this board and CMJ has shown time and time again that is the preferred course for discussion. You've lost this one. Deal with it.
So...whining about whining is any better than the original whining (and yes, I realize I am triply worse)?

I wonder if they are going to bring Kevin Arnold's sister from Wonder Years back yet AGAIN on L&O Criminal Intent? I love her accent.

The best confession on Criminal Intent was when Doogie Howser was playing a serial killer. Det. Full Metal jacket started accusing him in teh interrogation room and Doog was all ' No, no...' and then out of NOWHERE he just blurts out 'WHY DO I DO THIS?' . I was howling! They even play that up in the commercials for the reruns of the show on USA: 'He'll make you confess!'

Mama's Family? My memory is that was one of those weird time slotted shows like She's The Sheriff & Madame"s Place. And that one with ann Jillian. I think those started off network and then got syndicated while still cranking out new episodes. Charles In Charge & Small Wonder were like that too i think. They didn't seem like real shows.
