sorry you cant get it to work. im on a mac and would like to help you, but i wouldnt know where to start since ive encountered zero problems during the whole thing.

I thought I had everything set up correctly, but when I select Quick Connect and enter the IP address Colin sent me, I get "Unknown Address." What am I doing wrong?

I just found the updated mac client Valknut

Seems they've changed the name also but it's the same program.

A cry for help- I was going to get cwood up and going on this computer in FL, but when I went to download the DCBC client, it's some sort of weird ass file that I can't open to install it- like a .7z file extension. Anyone have any helpful ideas?

It's a 7-zip file. You need to uncompress it using either 7-zip or some other program that supports the format.
