Speaking of Shannyn Sossamon, I watched this movie Catacombs with her in it on FEARnet. Apparently, it's not out on video yet. It was pretty decent except for Pink being in it and it had a really stupid ending but which turned out ok.

you see that, Black Putin?

we were discussing this particular actress a few days ago and I have issues with her celebrity.

what issues?

Just a heads up--if yr into horror, you probably own the staples, but Best Buy and Circuit City have a bunch of them on sale for $4.99 and $6.99. Stuff like Halloween, Re-Animator, Hills Have Eyes (org), Exorcist, Hellraiser, etc.

Surprised that there isn't a 30 Days of Night thread up top yet. Shiv, did you see it? I saw it Sat. night, and while I'll admit I had it built up in my head, I was a little dissappointed in it. I dug the camera moves, and gore at points, but overall it was kind of underwhelming.

tried to go see it friday but there was a mob at the theater and didn't feel like waiting in a long ass line. i think i'm gonna see it tomorrow night. i don't think it's gonna live up to the graphic novel but it should be pretty decent.

I just think she's a shitty actress who gets more gigs because her looks appeal to indie rock fuckwits than anything else. This isn't any different than most actors or actresses, I know, but it still bugs me as what is essentially niche advertising.

Yeah, I just found out this morning that it started this weekend -- I'll try to see it this week. It was #1 in the box office draw.

I wanna go to that just to see Mulberry St and Frontiers.

Hey how was that Horrors Of Malformed Men? I saw it at the store the other day.

Hostel II wasn't that bad. I wonder what got added to the unrated version?

I haven't watched Malformed Men yet. It's one of the next in my queue.

SPOILERS ABOUT SAW AHEAD. ALTHOUGH IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, YOU PROBABLY NEVER WILL SO READ ON...

So, you remember Saw, right Shiv? How do you think the doctor got out of the building at the end? Also, if someone sawed off their leg, how long would it take to bleed to death? I should ask Dr. Jerkass. AND how the hell did those two NOT notice Jigsaw in the middle of the room the entire time?! I need answers.

I dunno where the doctor went...I'm assuming that it wouldn't take long to bleed to death if you cut off your leg. I'm thinking he probably didn't even make it out of the building.

I thought they just thought it was a dead body and didn't even bother, seeing the situation they were in.

Malformed Men wasn't much of a horror movie -- just strange. It starts out well enough as a mystery of sorts, and eventually moves into an odd, Japanese version of 'Freaks' (again, using legitimately deformed non-actors for show) by way of Lynch.

I ended up enjoying Snake Woman's Curse more, although it's pretty tame and follows the lines of traditional Japanese ghost stories like Kuroneko or Onibaba.

Got a free copy at work of Wrong Turn 2, and watched it tonight. My wife is from WV, so she always loves watching these things to spout off how wrong they are. Anyway, not that WT1 was any great cinematic masterpiece, this one was better, despite it still being bad beyond belief. At least Rollins is in it (yes, I see it as a positive).

Anyway, I recommend you stay away, but if you must, it is better than 1.

I've heard #2 is pretty good for a sequel. And the first was pretty good, gore-wise.

Yeah I've been to the last 2 but my friends that I went with before aren't gonna be in town for this one. Also, I'm kinda bummed that there aren't any cheesy movies this year. The previous two years had The Car, The Gate and Equinox along with some other bad movies. I'd totally go if they played Tombs Of The Blind Dead or something older.

There were two penis shots in the whole film. Was that in the rated version?

Why did it take almost 45 minutes to get to the slaughter?

The end was pretty awesome, though, when the rich girl showed everyone what's what.

It was pretty funny when she started playing soccer with the guys head...

I'm gonna watch 'Fido' this weekend. A Zombie Comedy.

yes.

that was the best part of the movie, especially when the kid scored the goal and ran around with his shirt over his head.

I saw Mulberry St at Horrorfest. It was pretty good for a movie with what looked like a really low budget. I tried to go see Borderland too and got my ticket and sat in the theater for like 15 minutes with nothing on screen before someone came in and said there was a mess-up with their computer and that Horrorfest had ended the day before. Idiots.

I saw The Mist tonight and it was pretty awesome. Nice to finally have a monster movie instead of a Hostel clone for once. The ending was kinda harsh though.

I liked the beginning and end of the movie but the middle was just really weird and the guy who played Jogoro was too goofy/fruity. Lots of naked asian girls though. Where'd you hear they were actually deformed? Everything I've read about it is that most of the extras were performance-art dancers.

No, you're right. I checked again and apparently had misread the particular review I thought mentioned that.

Shit....I saw this tonight with a friend of mine and it was fucking intense. Not for the squeamish and certainly not for those who prefer everything to resolve itself in the end. There was one character whose role was played a little too well. And they could have easily chopped off about 20 minutes or so.

Agreed. I dug it though, and I'm glad there was an ending instead of the novella ending. Overall it was great. Christian lady (forget actress' name) certainly deserves an Oscar nod. Obviously it won't happen, but she was amazing. Actually, didn't Kathy Bates win for Misery, so maybe...
