I've still only listened to two albums and two EPs from this year.

1. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
2. Abe Vigoda - Reviver EP
3. Times New Viking - Stay Awake EP
4. Antony and the Johnsons - The Crying Light

All of which are good. I'm considered getting either M. Ward or Vetiver and probably that Dark Was the Night comp. I also should probably check out Mi Ami.

You really should check out Lotus Plaza. I definitely think you'd love it.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about that. I'll probably pick it up once it's out.

The Right Ons - kind of a more pop, garage band take on reg rockers like the Faces and/or the Black Crowes

Twisted Wheel - very much in the vein of the Arctic Monkeys, right down to the accent

I imagine both albums will get pushed off the top whatever as I hear more music from this year.

It's me and you with Keep It Hid, sir. Also, what's with the 1990s, I've never heard them. What they like?

Why all the love for M. Ward?

It's dull as ditch water and not nearly as good as his last album. The best track is the instrumental outro track, a sure sign of a classic!

This is mystifying to me. I've tried multiple times with this guy over a few of his albums and don't get the attraction.

The 1990s are just a "pop" band with harmonies and catchy hooks. Nothing groundbreaking but really good at it. I think this link is still living. http://indiepassion.blogspot.com/search/label/1990s

I also think the Dan Auerbach album is light years better than any black keys album. It seems timeless to me. If I didn't know I couldn't tell what decade it was released in.

Me too, while I admit to liking a few tunes off each, but this last one hooked me. Not sure why, I just had it playing in the background one night while grilling out my carbon output and realized I was digging it. I can understand the dislike, I was there.

Thank, downloading now.

Yeah, I agree with you regarding Keep It Hid. I do enjoy Black Keys but nothing as much as this record. Perfect album for whiling away some time on the porch with a couple of beers.

I like him but this new album is pretty much more of the same and I've got enough of his albums.
