$600 can disappear so fast in meaningless shit you won't remember.

That guitar is a guitar to remember.

I don't really see how you have any choice.

My blue '89 tele, I found in a great store in atlanta during college when I had student loans. I played it and was fucking hooked... just so solid, so pefect, and lake placid blue is my favorite fender color. But I sorta needed the $500, so I put it down and tried to walk away like 5 times. I had 4 or 5 guitars already, it's not like I "needed" it. But in the end, it was the thought of some other person getting it that just fucking grated on my nerves. I could not bear the thought of someone else getting that guitar, when I knew it was such a good one, and I could somehow scrape the money together. So I ate ramen and mac and cheese and shit for a month or two, and I never regretted it. I LOVE that goddam guitar.

Alright, y'all talked me into it (not that I needed much convincing). Set the guy an email (its a craigslist posting) and now I just have to wait and see at this point.

Atta boy.

I have one of the '69 re-issue versions in a two-tone sunburst and I love it.

Granted it's not on the level of a US made tele but I think it sounds pretty good and I love the lightweight.

(The one I borrowed in south GA, right?) It's pretty goddam close, and really it beats some of the mid-80's stuff that was so hit/miss. That's a solid guitar, for sure, with a great whine to it.

That's the one. I actually lowered the action on it a lot and it now sounds a lot more "twangier". Put some reverb and a little delay on it and I can get close to that "I Walk The Line" sound.

Yeah I'd steal that guitar and give it a nice home on the wall...

Picked it up today, and though I've only played it a little so far, it feels good. And not a scratch or anything on her, mint condition all the way. Thanks for the advice obner, and you're right Cap'n, I'd feel pretty bad if I let some random douchebag pick this up instead of me.

I'll post a better picture or two tomorrow, my camera battery ran out after this one.

Assembled in Mexico, but most of the parts are US made.

Guys I'm looking to get a reverb pedal.

Willing to spend big, or go cheap.

Suggestions?

Boss Reverb / Delay combo is a safe choice. Price is something like $130US, built like a tank, good sound, shitloads of options.

Worth upgrading to this.

The Holiest Grail is cool, but almost too much.

I've heard TERRIBLE things from multiple friends about those electro harmonix reverb pedals just flat out falling apart. So, I might stay away from them...

I'm thinking of going with a Boss RV-5. Ideas?

Damn, your boys must be tough on gear.

Do you have a shop nearby where you could go try a couple of different pedals out to see if they have what you are looking for?

Went and tried out a few. Decided on the Boss RV-5. They retail here for AUD 350 (what the fuck? Musical gear here is so fucking overpriced), so I just bought a brand new one from the US for AUD 160 and paid 10 bucks postage.

The RV-5 is the one I've played with, and the one I'd buy if I had any real excuse to. Sounds like good reverb, no tubes or tapes to break, built like a tank.

This was my thought process. The shows I'm playing are pretty dirty and wild and disgusting and bloody, shit gets broken...plus I just moved to a smaller town from the city, so getting stuff fixed is really complicated and expensive. Durability is pretty much the chief motivation behind my purchases these days.

In that case you cant go wrong with Boss. Also, people are modding the shit out of them these days rendering really tough pedals even better.

Yeah I suspect you'll lose that pedal before it breaks on you.
