For those that played in the Obner league this year please notice a few slight changes:
Passing TDs are 3 (not 4) points
Passing yds are 1 pt per 20 (not 25) yards
Receptions 1 (not 0.5) pt
No points (+ or -) for interceptions, fumbles lost, missed FG/PATs or blocked kicks
The passing point changes should just about even out making QBs the same relative value as our regular season league. Obviously, WR's are slightly more valued with a full 1pt per reception--I did this because I'm not doing decimals for this league. On that note, remember that yardage points will be rounded off in this fashion: 70-79 yards rushing/receiving = 7pt, 80-89 yards = 8 pts., etc. 200 yd passing = 10pt, 201-239 yds passing = 11 pt, 240-259 yd passing = 12 pt., etc.
I made these changes for two reasons--a) I'm hand scoring this so I wanted to make it easier for myself. b) I'm running 2 of these playoff leagues and I wanted to make the scoring systems the same so I don't have to add the scores up twice.
After the draft there are no roster moves, no trades, no waiver transactions. You start your drafted lineup throughout the playoffs through the Super Bowl. There are no head-to-head matchups, just a running point total---most total points wins, with the 11 losers owing a CD to the winner. As teams are knocked out of the playoffs, you lose those players from your roster. In case of a tie, the team with the single highest scoring player is the winner, if that is also tied, the 2nd highest scoring player, etc.
I will generate a draft order soon and post it in this thread. It will be a typical serpentine style draft.
We will each draft: 1 QB (team QB), 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST. Since there are no waiver pickups, a team QB allows you to generate points from whoever plays QB for that team throughout the playoffs if the starter is injured/out. With regard to the required 2 RBs, I figure there are enough teams that play 2 (even 3) RBs over the course of the game that we should be able to fill that requirement.
I think that covers it. I probably forgot something so please let me know what I left out.
I haven't looked too closely at this, but
myfantasyleague.com is hosting free NFL playoff fantasy leagues. It seems to be at least somewhat customizable. Might be worth looking into if you don't feel like doing all this by hand.
