FSU has only appeared in that game once, Miami never.

I can honestly say that the 2006 game may be the worst football game I've ever watched

Thanks for posting the actual scores and who has played in the game. I knew Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech had each played in at least two title games, and that FSU and Miami have never faced off against each other for the title, but was unaware that BC made consecutive appearances.

It's crazy that Va Tech has lost three of those games. So much for the Beamer mystique.

Despite the fact that the ACC was clearly hoping for Miami and FSU to play in the title game every year at the time AND, as Bloor pointed out, it hasn't come that close to happening, I still maintain that when it does happen, it'll draw HUGE ratings.

I love that rivalry.

Srsly. Possibly the lowest point in ACC football history.

It appears that the NCAA ruling has been overturned and Jeremiah Masoli will get to play this year for Ole Miss.

Color me surprised.

Badgers open season this evening in Vegas. I am cautiously optimistic... The game is ripe for a classic UW fall, something endemic to the programme since Alvarez's third year (closing loss @ Northwestern that kept Wisky from bowl-eligibility).

AJ Green out for Georgia - investigation into improper contact with an agent. They really need to solve this bullshit: for players, slap them with a mandatory league minimum contract for their first 3 years, for agents, cut commissions on all existing contracts to 1% and ban them from representing new players for 3 years.

Kansas was epic fail in their 6-3 loss to North Dakota State tonight as well.
Mangino must have left the cupboards quite bare when he left.

LSU wins but something tells me The Hat did himself no favors today.

Also, that Kansas score? JESUS. WTF is going on in Lawrence?

Washington lost to a rather pedestrian BYU team tonight, 23-17. They could've easily won the game, but the special teams were atrocious as was Sarkisian's play calling. He was utterly out-coached in his Provo homecoming. And sadly, Heisman-hopeful, Jake Locker, looked rather average. Looks like I'm in for another long, mediocre-to-poor season without a bowl game. Oh well.

I still enjoyed seeing the game live---I haven't watched the Dawgs play in person for years.

Welcome to the Turner Gill Era

That sound you hear is Auburn fans breathing a sigh of relief.

I thought it was cool that Aaron Murray's impressive debut got a front page mention on espn.com. I thought dude was pretty damn good except that he needs to learn to throw the ball out of bounds when he gets flushed (CMR must read my texts because he said the same thing in the article on the game) My advice: Go watch some game tape of Phillip Rivers with the Chargers: That dude not only knows how to get rid of the ball, but he does so in a way that almost antagonizes the defense. Personally, I've always enjoyed it.

Gene Chizik didn't fair much better in two years in the Big 12 when he replaced Iowa State's most successful coach. I think Gus Malzahn is the sole reason Auburn went bowling last year, their Defense was pretty pedestrian for SEC standards, and the Cyclone's were pretty shitty on Defense when Chizik was there too.
Kansas just had way too many turnovers for a rebuilding team that is replacing most of its skilled players in the offensive backfield. They are certainly going to struggle more than most folks thought, since this was probably their easiest game of the year. The Jayhawks will most likely get absolutely pounded next week by GT at home.

Under the circumstances, it was incredible. Still, tough end to that one for those guys. I thought it was Pass Interference on the final play but you'd have to have big set of balls to call it at that moment.

What the word on all those players? Is a deal where they'll be suspended for a couple of games or are they done?

If it's just suspensions for a game or two, I think they could still make some noise in the ACC.

I'm assuming this is directed at Bloor's comment?

I think Auburn is going to be a pretty dangerous team this year.

Yeah it was, since it was a little harsh on Turner Gill. I don't blame Auburn for not hiring him, since his former head coach and alma mater picked Bo Pelini over him a few years back, but the guy has proven he can turn a non-existent to perennially terrible program around in a few years.
I only fear that he'll be yet another quality college football coach to have his career derailed by the curse of coaching the Kansas Football team. It was pretty humorous that former mediocre to shitty Nebraska Defensive coordinator Craig Bohl, now coaching an FCS team managed to beat the Former Husker QB in a head to head match-up. I don't think Gill ever beat Solich in the MAC either.

If you want to go soft on Turner because he's one of your guys, Prom, I'm cool with that, and he may turn out to be fine, BUT, there were some legit knocks on the guy when he interviewed for the Auburn job (even amidst the "y'all some racist for not hiring him" BS coming from the Charles Barkley's of the world) and when you see that score against that opponent (especially given that they were pretty prolific on offense under Fat Bastard), it has to give you some pause.

Whew, that's more time and effort than I ever dreamed I'd have to put into Jayhawks football.

The Leinart release really caps off what's been a monster off season for the Trojans, no?

Mostly Terry Allen, who was an amazing coach at Northern Iowa before deciding to head to Lawrence, but you can look at the History of KU Football and see that folks like Glen Mason, Mike Gotfried and Pepper Rodgers jumped ship for other programs before they were shown the door in Lawrence. None of those folks had stellar careers leading the Jayhawks either. As for the Fat Bastard, they were 23-41 in Big 12 games under his leadership. Like KSU, they tended to rely on easy non-conference wins to set them up for Bowl eligibility, and were usually no better than fourth or fifth in the Big 12 North.
