Who is the bigger band right now - The Black Keys or The White Stripes/Racanteurs?

Remember when the Keys were touted as the 2-piece blues outfit from the Midwest that should be getting praised instead of the more MTV-friendly White Stripes?

Right now? Black Keys. More buzz about them than the White Stripes. But, that's only because the WS are on hiatus. Whenever Jack White opens his mouth, the internet listens and watches intently.

As far as recognizable status, I think the WS still have the edge.

A girl I graduated high school with was shot in the face with a shotgun by her husband yesterday. The husband then killed himself. She couldn't speak so she texted a friend who called 911. She's in critical condition right now.

Yeah, she was his fifth wife. You'd think he would have gotten used to marital strife by this point.

It was a well known secret that he was selling roids out of his health club. She was quiet in high school but was seemingly nice. Apparently, she had some work done and became a "model" for his tv spots.

I don't know. I think the problem could have been that she didn't like old man balls enough.

Toots, is that in reference to Kingfish?

If it is, the reading comprehension problem needs to be re-assessed as a reading retention problem.

(the amount I know about you people off the top of my head is mind boggling)

We had this argument years ago. If you have over 10,000 posts, and have been here for 5 or 6 years, you either know the posters, or you're a fucking idiot.

I know your usernames and some of your real names. Other than that, I don't give a shit about your age or the retention of trivial demographic information. But, is it possible to not have 10,000 posts and still be a fucking idiot? :)

I am working for the Norfolk Admirals at the moment, an AHL affiliate to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Small organization, typically small crowds, and oftentimes questionable anthem singers.

Last weekend a little girl sang the anthem and the mic cut out. What happened after is lost a little on the video, but being there in the press box overlooking and overhearing the crowd below gives you a little hope that we're all not a bunch of gun-toting assholes hoping to violently silence those with whom we disagree.

One of my favorite experiences:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_d ... nhl-306789

So, this video has over 2.3 million hits now. The kid was on NPR locally finishing her song, she was on the local news, inside edition, Anderson Cooper's show, and is slated to be on national shows in the upcoming week or two. This kid's 15 minutes is just getting better. Happy for her. Too bad it is bordering on sensationalizing the whole thing now. Either way, it was a cool experience to be a part of in some third party observational way.
