Unless I had a mutant of some sort, that rumor is busted. It took off quite easily from the ground.

A lacrosse stick to fight bats is brilliant! Keeping this in mind if I am ever confronted with the challenge.

More 90+ days here than in any other summer on record. Or, at least damn close to it.
You were saying?

Hasn't rained here since late May, and on Saturday we (barely) broke a streak of 28 straight over 100 degree days. And that streak was preceded by about three straight weeks of 100+.

Global warming or not, this is fucking brutal.

It was 69 degrees on my way into work this morning. I actually had the windows cracked. Felt like we'd finally wrestled out from Summer's grip and the big fade towards Fall might've begun....

Of course this means we'll probably have a heat wave the first week in September.

We just had a 40-day 100+ streak broken last Thursday.

The 30 harshest musician on musician insults - Anton comes in at #2, with Tupac taking #1

my favorite is:

14. Noel Gallagher on Jack White
“He looks like Zorro on doughnuts.”

interesting that 'She's a vile human being with no redeeming qualities' was only 5th or 6th.

I'm sure Luke Haines has ones that are much more scathing than these. The author probably has no idea who he is though...

Also: while I can agree with Coyne about Arcade Fire, it's kind of obvious. A Li'l Lord Fauntleroy who went to prep school disdains pretty much everybody not in his band/peer group? Color me shocked.

Just finished reading The Princess Bride.
Amazingly, the book is just as good as the movie.

And, oddly enough, the author of the book, who also wrote the screenplay, as well as the screenplays to All the President's Men and Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, is from the town where I grew up. Kinda gives me a sense of hometown pride that I never really had before.*

*Although Steppenwolf Theater also began in the basement of a church in the same town. So, that was a little something, too.

Interesting that this has as much to do with protecting themselves from frivolous patent lawsuits as it does with developing mobile handsets.
