i think I liked this but I expected more. Hathaway was pretty good but melissa Leo should dominate this oscar category.

Which TV on the Radio guy is in this: the fat Raj from What's Happening?, or the black Jerry Garcia?

That's not the TVOTR dude, is it? I saw the trailer and the thought crossed my mind.

I know one of them is the groom or some such, but I don't know which one. After watching SNL the other night, I think it's probably chubby Raj.

According to IMDB, the guy's name is Tunde Adebimpe. Which one is he?

I found a picture. Yeah, he's got kind of a young Sidney Poitier thing going, when he's not Thom Yorke-ing it up on stage with silly dance moves.

He's the one in the middle and he did a good job. He doesn't have a whole lot of lines but he's on screen a lot. The marriage scene made me pull out my copy of "Harvest Moon".

this movie gives him about as much to do as a guitarist in a ska band but he's acceptable. He flexes a lot more in Jump Tomorrow.

Wathced The Future is Unwritten last night. It was okay, but I wish they would've skipped over the parts covered in other Clash documentaries and offered up something new. The stock footage was annoying.

Just updated to 2 at a time, so I can have one movie for the week and one for the weekend, provided I keep the timing up.

So now I have The Bank Job and *shudder* Crystal Skull on the way.

Tropic Thunder - I read a lot of bad reviews, but I kinda liked it. There were a couple laugh out loud lines/moments...I was entertained. Downey Jr. pretty much stole the show though.

He's right. Rip the damn paper off and put it right back in the mailbox. Don't waste your time with this movie. It exceeded my worst expectations. Pound for pound the worst movie Hollywood has shit out since the last George Lucas turdfest.

But if you do choose to watch it. Please please give us a rundown of what you thought. It could be epic.

Isn't that the whole point of me joining Netflix?

Isn't this just a little bit of hyperbole regarding the shittiness of Crystal Skull?

I honestly wish I'd never seen it.

Not that it ruins Indiana Jones or anything (The Last Crusade wasn't really good, anyway), but it was a boring, pointless waste.

Maybe. But maybe not.

I left the theater downright pissed at Lucas for ruining a once great franchise.

The Wrestler was as awesome as I expected. Great use of hair metal for the sound track.

I was interested in what you'd think. I'm 100% NOT a fan of the horror genre in general, but love Friday the 13th/Jason Voorhies. I was curious as to what diehard 13th fans would be saying about this Michael Bay produced rehashing of the "franchise".

I recently saw Waltz with Bashir which was mindblowingly good. There's just nothing else to compare it to. For you electronic/modern classical fans, Max Richter did the score. PiL's "This Is Not A Love Song" was absolutely perfectly used in a scene.

Last night I saw Kelly Reichardt's (Old Joy) newest, Wendy & Lucy. For some reason I was expecting more. It was well done and did a good job of creating the suspense and hopelessness of striking out on your own in a world where no one knows you and you have little money. Michelle Williams was good, but they could've used another actress and told the same story.

I liked The Last Crusade all right, and I'm not going to quibble about your choice of language, 'boring' and 'pointless' are definitely fair criticisms. I don't know, maybe because I had such low expectations based on word of mouth and was expecting full out 'unwatchable' that when I finally saw it, I was just kind of meh about it, instead of hating it outright.

Saw this over the weekend. It's been slobbered over by almost every critic imaginable and already won several awards and should be favored to win the Oscar for best Foreign film.

That being said, MEH.

I thought the animation was beautiful at times but most of the time I found it distracting and very graphic-novel-esque. I also thought the psycho-therapy angle wore a bit thin. I know that the whole thing was about detachment and memory from traumatic events, etc but I just felt that the dream sequences were just too distracting and didn't go anywhere.

I realize that's kind of the point and the whole thing just feels dream-like by the director's choice I'm sure but I just found myself looking at my watch a few times. The final 60 seconds was more powerful than what it implied through the whole movie which was by design I guess.

It was very well done and the only way a flick like that could accomplish what it does is by making it animated. I'm glad I saw it but I have no desire to see it again.

I swear movie critics have to review and wade through so much dreck that when a movie like this comes along they use up every poetic license they can to describe the power of film or something. The reviews are so over the top.

Finally saw my last remaining Coens feature, Ladykillers. I guess it came right after Intolerable Cruelty and was kind of a down period for them. Liked it better than IC though.

I was probably the same about it, really, but I still feel like it was total waste of time even if I didn't truly hate it.

I actually fell asleep during the big waterfall scene. I was really tired, but still...
