I haven't gotten to that new Road Trips until today, but man, it's really good.

Road Trips Volume 4 Number 1 is subtitled Big Rock Pow-Wow '69. It was recorded at a rock festival called the Big Rock Pow-Wow, which took place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 23, 24, and 25, 1969, at the Hollywood Seminole Indian Reservation in West Hollywood, Florida. Other artists who performed at the festival included Johnny Winter, Sweetwater, Joe South, Aum, NRBQ, Rhinoceros, Muddy Waters, and the Youngbloods.

What an amazing week for Deadheads and jam fans everywhere. First, we learn the Grateful Dead are getting their own video game. Then, the guys from Rothbury announced negotiations for a 2011 edition are underway. And now, details have surfaced about a 60-disc-plus box set for the Dead’s 1972 European Tour.

According to Spinner, the still-untitled collection chronicles the band’s first overseas tour. With 22 dates across England, Germany, France, Denmark, and Holland to sort through, producer David Lemieux is still busy mixing and mastering this comprehensive project. The aim of this exhaustive collection is not only to document the tour, but to capture the essence of the jam band pioneers.

i've been listening a lot to the Barton Hall show that is frequently called the "best show ever" and while i have no frame of reference to call it the best it's really fucking good. I'm reminded of the "Dancing in the Streets" hate from this crew and I mostly agree. But the "Dancing" on that show is really really great, unlike any other version I'd ever heard. The show is posted somewhere in this thread, but I'm too lazy to dig it up, but I will if someone is interested.

Perhaps this is old news and tunes to some about it's Place in the Pecking Order, but it's a fresh listen for me and sounds pretty dang good.

Another thing I like about this is it being an audience recording, and an excellent one at that, and it adds just the right amount of crowd and auditorium to the mix (especially the vocals)...something I find lacking in the Dick's Picks soundboard releases.
