Yeah the last couple have really been exceptionally good. That Austin set has been my go to lately.

Looking forward to hearing the Warlocks set. I used to have an AUD of the show - clearly audible are people screaming "O My God!!" when they began Dark Star..

Was just coming to post about this.

http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/01/24/grateful-dead-to-release-1972-european-tour-box-set/

Quote:
What an amazing week for Deadheads and jam fans everywhere. First, we learn the Grateful Dead are getting their own video game. Then, the guys from Rothbury announced negotiations for a 2011 edition are underway. And now, details have surfaced about a 60-disc-plus box set for the Dead’s 1972 European Tour.

According to Spinner, the still-untitled collection chronicles the band’s first overseas tour. With 22 dates across England, Germany, France, Denmark, and Holland to sort through, producer David Lemieux is still busy mixing and mastering this comprehensive project. The aim of this exhaustive collection is not only to document the tour, but to capture the essence of the jam band pioneers.

The collection isn’t expected to drop until September, but you can reserve a copy of the first 3,000 personalized editions here. But it’s not going to come cheap; the price tag is $450. Don’t have the cash? You can check the video of “Ramble on Rose” down below.

Expect more massive box sets in the future. The Grateful Dead are currently considering compiling their fall 1973 and spring 1990 treks.

Not that its on my to-buy radar but, $450 actually isn't that bad for 60+ discs. Buuuut, that's a lot of material. Dang.

Product Description
You all know about the glory that was 1987. A year after we almost lost Jerry to his diabetic coma in the summer of '86, the Dead were back, Jerry was the phoenix risen, and the band was bigger than ever: There was "Touch of Grey," In the Dark, the stadium tour with Dylan, a huge influx of new Heads; it was good times all around, for sure. The band was revived and a new day dawned!

Well, we haven't forgotten '88 -- far from it -- and this edition of Road Trips (Vol. 4, No. 2) shows you why. It offers up the entire April 1, 1988 concert from the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, NJ (maybe you just called it "the Meadowlands" back in the day), plus the entire second set and a few first set highlights from the previous night's show, March 31.

This release does not contain a bonus disc.

Track listing:

Disc 1:

1. Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo
2. Jack Straw
3. To Lay Me Down
4. Ballad Of A Thin Man
5. When Push Comes To Shove
6. New Minglewood Blues
7. Cumberland Blues
8. Deal
9. When I Paint My Masterpiece
10. Let It Grow
11. Brokedown Palace

Disc 2:

1. Scarlet Begonias
2. Fire On The Mountain
3. Samson and Delilah
4. Terrapin Station
5. Rhythm Devils
6. Space
7. Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad
8. I Need A Miracle
9. Dear Mr. Fantasy
10. Hey Jude
11. All Along The Watchtower
12. Knockin' on Heaven's Door

Disc 3:

1. China Cat Sunflower
2. I Know You Rider
3. Estimated Prophet
4. Eyes Of The World
5. Rhythm Devils
6. Space
7. The Other One
8. Wharf Rat
9. Throwing Stones
10. Not Fade Away

The middle disc is just great. Overall sound is excellent too. I'm finding myself liking the Road Trips series better than DP's. They don't sound as sonically flat and have just the right amount of crowd noise buzzing around.

i've been listening a lot to the Barton Hall show that is frequently called the "best show ever" and while i have no frame of reference to call it the best it's really fucking good. I'm reminded of the "Dancing in the Streets" hate from this crew and I mostly agree. But the "Dancing" on that show is really really great, unlike any other version I'd ever heard. The show is posted somewhere in this thread, but I'm too lazy to dig it up, but I will if someone is interested.

Hey...hope this isn't a thread fart, but I thought if anyone was up for a little extracurricular activity over the weekend they could DL and listen to the Barton Hall '77 show I grabbed from the Internet Archives.

    Setlist:
    Minglewood Blues
    Loser
    El Paso
    They Love Each Other
    Jack Straw
    Deal
    Lazy Lightning-> Supplication
    Brown Eyed Women
    Mama Tried
    Row Jimmy
    Dancin' In The Streets
    Scarlet Begonias->
    Fire On The Mountain
    Estimated Prophet
Saint Stephen->Not Fade Away-> Saint Stephen-> Morning Dew
    E: One More Saturday Night
Perhaps this is old news and tunes to some about it's Place in the Pecking Order, but it's a fresh listen for me and sounds pretty dang good.

Another thing I like about this is it being an audience recording, and an excellent one at that, and it adds just the right amount of crowd and auditorium to the mix (especially the vocals)...something I find lacking in the Dick's Picks soundboard releases.

Enjoy!

I went back and found my old post on the Barton Hall show. These are the same files as the Archive ones listed above, but I think I cleaned up the tracks and files a bit, added some artwork and upped them to my RS site..

...you're right about Dancin' Jewels, it rocks.

Do you still have those links? I'm having difficulty with the original ones, expanding em.

So far managed to get through disc 1 and liked the Deal a good deal.
