yes, grow the fuck up you guys. they're up to their ass in frogs and locusts down there.

seriously, it's fucking NATURE. it is not the apocalypse by any stretch of the imagination. This shit happens all the fucking time and with worse consequences all over the world. It pisses me off that because it's in north america it has to be referred to in hushed despair when if it was in guam or somewhere this thread wouldn't even exist. It's a shame, and I'm sorry for the people and families involved, but i'm not gonna stop my life because a city 6 feet below sea level on a coast was hit by a hurricane with 2 weeks of advance warning. that's part of life. nature does kill off a big ol' chunk of us every once in awhile. Believe it or not, it's natural, and far better than catching a bullt in the spleen for some dumbass war (any war). it sucks, but then so do a lot of things. it sucks that we're callous douchebags, and i'll feel ashamed whem i'm rotating on a spit with a sailfish wriggling out of my ass, not because somebody on the internet told me to.

Jesus.

EDIT: By the way, was watching MSNBC for a while, or rather had it on in background. They decided to do this segment of all these photos taken from the aftermath and rescues of people.

Song that they played: Sia's Breathe Me. Damn. That song is going to end up being THE song for emotional scenes played.

they're already starting the video montages? i blame the media - they probably had a prayer session or rain dance for this storm.

i believe that was said because of it happening on 3/11 and it obviously not being just a coincidence.

My brother's house in N.O. is a "?" He rode it out in FL. My niece's freshman year in university is to be determined most likely now somewhere other than in N.O. Her parents(my oldest bro) shipped her home first during orientation weekend and then boarded up my brother's house before the storm while he was out of town.

As grateful as my brother was to be away and safe, his worry was for the hundreds if not thousands of the poorer folks not able to get out or have the means to leave.

Anyhow, "Our Tsunami" is bloated and hyperbolic. It still does not diminish the loss of life, property, shelter, and food for children, and care for the elderly or infirm, a setback for many that means starting over with zero. These are American citizens. It is tragic and catastrophic. And, yes, as it is rammed down our throats on every news station. Change the station if you don't want to see it.

I'm back. I started to read this thread but stopped because I don't care or want to know what some of you insensitve dicks think. Fuck you, seriously. Who fuckin cares how it compares. It's a disaster the likes America has never seen. I have alot to tell about this, and it's worse than what you are seeing on tv for sure. Luckily Houma was spared. It's unbelieveable. For some reason their was a small crease in the storm that saved us.

I'm literally crying as I type this. We all have friends and family in NO. There is no communication and my feeling of desperation is unimaginable. Water is still coming. I'm having the hardest time organizing my thoughts. Some of you dick wads think you know and understand what's going but YOU HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA.

yeah, as inflammatory as that nascar crack was, i rather thought it was funny too, i was just too much of a wuss to say it 6 pages earlier.

But whatever, stereotypes are both funny, AND they suck. What are you gonna do, cry about it, or roll with the punches and defuse the situation by making fun of it yourself?

Look at me, I'm fat, I'm bald, and I'm a dothead, one of the few minorities that it's o.k. to make fun of. I'm defusing this shit ALL THE TIME.

So fucking get over Billz's crack.

I don't need to talk about the tragedy, we've hashed that out for far too long. Yeah it's a tragedy. Yeah, the actual tsunami was a tragedy.

Thank god above that you're alive, and if you're so moved, do something to make the situation better, but if a little dark humor gets your panties in a bunch, why on earth would you identify that as a weakness? That's just pouring gasoline on the fire.

You're right, I don't. Keep us posted, and I'll keep you in my prayers.

As you worry about your friends and family and the situation, try and count the blessings that you do have, the lives you know are safe. I can't think of anything else to tell you or comfort you.

But I tell you something really stupid. The fucking whore at the USAir counter in NYC told me as I tried to get back home, "deal with it. We've been through hurricanes and blackouts before." If you think if media coverage is too much for this. Just think if Manhattan was in threat of annihilation.
