Oh wow! What about Teppo? That would be 3 of thier top 4 out. Jeff Jillson welcome to game 7. The thing I love is both teams have the big game forwards like Stillman & Brind'Amour for the 'Canes and Drury & Briere for the Sabres. Expect 1 of those 4 guys to pat thier resume tonite with a huge game.

I think McKee (who lead the league in blocked shots) & Joe Corvo (40 points in 81 games for the Kings & beyond Blake is the next best right handed puck handler who's a UFA & turns 29 this month) are the steals of this Summers free agent crop. As long as Lidstrom & Chara ask for 7-8 million, Reddens had his stock drop big time, Jovo & Blake will get big bucks & Ruslan Salei spent half the season trying to figure out the new rules & is adamant about getting 3 years & will be 32 in November.

Programming note: It's on IN HD1

So if you don't have OLN but have IN HD 1 you can still watch it

Can't agree on Redden's stock having dropped, especially with MacKay re-upping with TO for 5-years at 6-mil per. MacKay has a good shot and runs a decent powerplay, but is a liability in his own end. If he's worth 6, Redden's worth 7, Lidstrom & Chara.... I do agree that McKee will be a steal, I'm hoping the Habs can sign him, don't know anything about Corvo. Game note: after a terrible first 35 minutes, the Sabres just potted two quickies for a 2-1 lead at the 2nd intermission. Should be a great 3rd period.

Hey Damen, are you a transplanted Canadian, or just one of the few SoCal hockey nuts?

tough cookies, hombre.

Canes all the way, baby. Well, or Oilers all the way baby. I don't even care who wins it.

Goalie Ward is still the man but he only brought his B- game tonight.

great game tonight, although buffalo was lucky to be in it at all...carolina seriously out played them all night except for 3minutes at the end of whichever period that was when they scored 2 goals (the second?)

jus sayin'

Great game. Eventhough I wanted Carolina I still think if Buffalo was healthy they might have the better team.

SoCal native.

You're right, I forgot about the contract McCabe got. TO has always kind of been in a world of thier own. Let's just say the smart money is thinking less of Redden after that post season. What is the Richards contract gonna do for Elias & Jokinen?

Corvo barely has 200 NHL games under his belt, but at 29 in 3 weeks his best days are ahead of him. Personally I think 29 is when most Dmen hit thier peak. He's coming off a season in which he got just a hair under 20 minutes a night (3rd on team), scored 40 points (2nd among Dmen on team), & had a +16 (3rd on team tops among dmen). Has a great shot (14 goals), even better hands & skates pretty well. Hands of a forward really. He's mistake prone in his own end, but not to the point that he's a liability. I chalk it more up to lack of experiance at the NHL level. He definately could work on his first pass. I think if someone signs him (hopefully the Kings resign) to a 3 year he'll get better with each season. There's talk he'll go to Chicago since he's from Oak Park, Ill.

But the thing that makes him so attractive is his age & the fact (that I know of) beyond Blake there isn't much in terms of offensively skilled right handed Dmen who are UFA's this Summer. He won't carry the Offensive load for most teams, but if you've got a lefty he'd be a great compliment.

i forgot about this thread. I posted a game 1 thread. To tell you the truth. I can't believe this thread has so many posts considering the replies in the Game 1 thread.

Cam Ward is my hero. I'll say it again and again. and I do.

Yea, Ward was very impressive.

I can't believe Roloson is out for the series. He was playing well also.

I was just thinking. I know why I like hockey so much. Besides it being one of the more action packed hard-hitting sports out there in the mainstream, the greatest hockey players are not arrogant assholes that walk off the rink during a game because they're team isn't performing. They're not crybabies. They are about the game. They tend to be laid back people that are truly moved by the fans support and care about playing the damn game and not making sure that everyone knows how much bling they have outside of their role and their job.

MVP candidate's don't explain thier team blowing a series in which they had a 3 games to 1 lead with- no one expected us to make the playoffs anyway

You're new to hockey, huh?

It would be nice if that were true, but... I will say that the NHL is way better in this regard than other major sports (espcially the NBA), but that's probably in large part due to the fact that the NHL gets far less attention than the other sports. There are plenty of prima donna hockey players. Luckily the nature of the game is such that talent *usually* only gets you so far.

Glad to see you've taken a liking to the game, though.

Yeah I am fairly new. I mean, I have always enjoyed it but really got into it this year. I don't have any particular team but I am, as has been noted repeatedly, rooting for Carolina in the finals.

I think that comment was spurred on by watching Mark Messier receive some award from a few years back or something and he was just trying to say thank you and was near about sobbing. I respect that. Many NBA and NFL players would get up there and say thank you but subtly act and think that they "desereved" it rather than it being an honor bestowed on them.

EDIT: Also, watching Cam Ward last night talk with the woman after the game showed me that there is a definite and genuine respect for their teammates. He's laid back. He's respectful, and he was very sincere in his appreciation for his team in those times where they averted goals and such. I mean, this kid is 22 and is in the running for whatever that award is. I just think that I would be an arrogant prick if I recognized that I was doing an exceptional job. I don't know if this is all that clear.

I had a roomie, diehard Laker fan & UPS driver. He would on occasion get to deliver to the practice facility the Lakers & Kings share in El Segundo. He said it was night & day delivering to those two. That the Kings were real cool to him & the Lakers were kinda asses. And this is a guy who was a Lakers fan & knew nothing about hockey
