I'd be willing to be that they go back to original numbering on Action, Detective, Superman, and Batman eventually. It might be a few years, but it'll happen.

Yea, i think at least those will revert to original numbering.

I'm very curious to see how they rewrite the universe history too.

if you think they won't start renumbering Action Comics in time for what would be Issue 1000, I don't think you've ever paid attention to how comics are marketed...

I like the idea, as long as they allow it to open up all these characters for reinterpretation. They've just dug some shit holes for themselves with some of them. I'll be happy if they can recreate Green Lantern enough for me to give a shit again. RE-starting Daredevil was a great idea for Marvel, so I'd love to see them do this with, say, Superman or Green Arrow.

I haven't read a single issue of anything Flashpoint-related. Come to think of it, I don't think I've read anything from DC in months that wasn't written by Scott Snyder... psyched to see his run on Swamp Thing.

I picked up LOEG: 1969 a few weeks ago and still haven't finished it. I feel like I've completely missed a few interstitial issues.

I haven't even started reading 1969 yet. Ever since Black Dossier LOEG just hasn't felt like LOEG. Those felt more like reading the outlines of stories than of reading actual stories*. I mean, I guess. I don't really remember anything about the 1910 book.

*This is also a problem I've had with some of Hickman's Image stuff, like Pax Romana and Trans Human.

I finished it last night, except for the text portion at the end, which is typically the most indecipherable and tripped out secions of the book.

I really liked 1910, especially the Threepenny Opera bit with Nemo's daughter. I like that 1969 had a whole Stones parallel with the Hyde Park concert for a dead Brian Jones fascimile, and it was neat the way he used "Sympathy for the Devil" in the same way. I mean, I get the overall premise, it just seems like they're barely related (though maybe that's Moore's commentary on immortality).

Still, I'm betting that it would help to go through The Black Dossier again, since that seems to be the map of the whole thing. This shit is dense, and I'm betting I could spend years -even with Nevins' notations- and still be picking up parts of the story that slipped past me. I'm betting it wraps up nicely in the next issue, but I'm curious to see how he can do public domain characters in 2009 for it. Also, will he still be using a song as a theme throughout the issue? Any bets on what the hell that might be? Was that dumb Lady Gaga song 2009?

There's a pretty great interview with Grant Morrison here: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ ... s-20110822

I finally got around to watching that movie about him. It was a tad long, but fuck that dude is interesting.

I guess it's pretty cool that on the eve of the big DC relaunch, you bump this thread to post about a Goon movie.

eh, the latter is bigger (and better) news for me. I care about the DC relaunch, but at the end of the day, it's pretty much just another event. I'm excited to see how it plays out, but if anything I'm betting I read less DC books for the time being.

I've never read Goon, but it looks nice. I may have to pick up a trade soon.

It's pretty out there, and he's been known to take some pretty weird turns (remember, this is the guy who did a one-shot called "Satan's Sodomy Baby"). Still, Powell's art is among the best in comics at the moment. This series is a little like Hellboy in that it's great, but a little repetitive.

so that JLA issue was pretty neat.
