Okay Marco. Only hours away. I will now do a Pat Forde style best case/worst case scenario for tonight.

Best Case:

UGA comes out hot and a well rested Trey Thompkins establishes his jump shot early. Role player and spotty 3 point shooter Dustin Ware catches fire and goes 6 for 9 from behind the arc. We clog the lane and keep Thomas from penetrating. Huskies get discombobulated and panic. Dawgs win by 7. With their new found momentum, they give UNC all they want and more on Sunday. The success makes the best talent in the state see UGA as a viable option and we start getting more McDonald's All Americans. We pay Mark Fox a fat raise and UGA becomes a mainstay in the tourney for the next 10 years.

Worst Case:

UGA jumps out to a 12 point lead with their athleticism and the announcers say it's all but over at halftime. Then, as they have done all year, they start to wilt around the 12-11 minute mark. Much like Erving Walker (Florida) did to us both times this year, Isaiah Thomas proves too quick. He slices inside at will and dishes to big men for dunks or outside for open 3's. We see our lead evaporate and we panic. End up losing by 10. Trey Thompkins is gone to the NBA and foolishly Travis Leslie decides to declare leaving us with a couple of role playing Senior and a bunch of underclassmen. We miss the tournament again next year and UGA falls back into mediocrity with Fox eventually leaving for another job in 3 years.

My heart wants to believe but my head says that y'all are too deep and too talented.

I'm going all heart tonight.

I'm getting nervous.

I think UGA has a good shot. Look what the Pac 10 has done so far: USC lost ugly to VCU. UCLA and UA squeaked past their lower seeded opponents. It's going to be a tight game.

It's going to be a tight game.

Hopefully with this type of ending. (I wish Gus Johnson could call all the NCAA games).

Typical horrible Washington first half. Trouble is this is the NCAA tourney. This isn't Oregon. I'm not sure why they do this every fucking time.

Exactly.

I'll be surprised if this doesn't come down to the last play.

I thought that last shot was going to fall. OT would have been fantastic.

Best part of that game was Kenny and Charles at halftime explaining that the 2-3 Zone is sorry and that if you can't beat it, you are sorry. Also Jim Boeheim=Sorry.

Damn if it didn't.

Much as I predicted (and what UGA fans have watched all year), here is the stat of the game:

Points off the bench:

Washington: 28

Georgia: 0

Big fat goose egg. If we had something even remotely resembling a bench, we're probably playing out west somewhere as a 3 or 4 seed.

Is what it is though. Congrats on the win...........and condolences on the loss today.

That said, my full support now goes to the Tarheels.

I was thinking yesterday, "Man, Pitino's got some big balls and can really shake off a bad loss quickly" but the more I think about it, I'd be fucking pissed if I was Louisville player or alum and my coach, who is getting paid $2.5 million+ to win basketball games, is in New York picking up another paycheck two days after getting bounced out of the tourney.

I do like having the coaches perspective.

Yeah, that was a tough one today. UW outplayed them for 36 minutes and then caved. Three horrible unforced turnovers by their upperclassmen leaders and then worst of all----not even being able to inbound a basketball for chance to win it with 7 seconds remaining. A senior leader, at that. Very frustrating.

UNC made the plays they needed to. I will say the +12 foul discrepancy in Carolina's favor (almost entirely in the first half) was a little fishy.

I completely agree and I'm afraid it's coaching.

I love Romar. He is a great recruiter, motivator and person but he is not a great X's and O's coach. He lost his two best assistants to head coaching positions at Washington St and Seattle U. He needs to go find a new bench coach for next season that fill that void. UW will be loaded again talent-wise next season (probably more so than this year). They need to take advantage of it.

Crazy day yesterday. When did VCU become UNLV of the early 90's? Just killing folks.

Also, where did this Florida St. team come from? Not sure if Notre Dame just wet themselves of if they just ran into a buzzsaw. I could see FSU getting smoked next round.

As for the Butler/Pitt game, both calls were called correctly but man, would've been nice for the ref to swallow his whistle on that last play, if only for those two to keep going at it for an OT. Great game.

I wasn't sure if it was my ACC bias, but I picked Florida State to make it to the Sweet 16 solely based on their defense. I really thought it was that good, even before it was hammered home time after time by the announcers in last night's game. And getting Singleton back I thought could only help. It's crazy to think that either VCU or FSU will make the Elite 8.

That's how the tournament goes. Bound to happen. In perspective, WVU wasn't going to get very far, Marquette knocked off Cuse, so one BE team knocked out another. Pitt...well, let's just say I put them in the VT category of never bet money on them. ND, I had hope for so that was a shocker. Still, no one I knew who is a BE supporter had anyone by UConn, ND, or Cuse actually doing anything.

Also, unless a BE team wins the whole thing, people will say its an overrated conference. And...let's also be honest--most of the biggest whiners had BE teams winning games and this is backlash for Cuse and ND ruining brackets :D

I went from having my bracket in the top 99% percent on Yahoo to 68% and not having a prayer thanks to ND losing (and Pitt and Syracuse). Keep me posted on where to send the cd.

Same boat. Had only a couple of missteps, and then those two loses sent me spinning. Still winning my group, but 2 of my FF (Cuse/ND) hurt my chances. Think my chances are pretty good though of winning out though--in my group 1 picked Pitt, another Louisville, other picked SDSU, and I picked a very chalky Duke (even though I can't stand them).
