junip - fields
maximum balloon - s/t
the phantom band - the wants

oh, and s. carey album is a real good 'un for anyone who can't get enough of that bon iver-type thang.

I'm not really sure that it is still happening. I don't think Haq's setting up the polls anymore (remember the Charts? lol), and I don't think we did it at all last year.

Did somebody volunteer to tabulate this year? I don't remember.

I'm kind of going ghey over this Ariel Pink record. Will see if it lasts beyond my usual 2-week album infatuation.

I really dig the first song on the Junip - caught it on that late night MSG network show a few months ago, I think filmed at the Knitting Factory? - but haven't been too taken in by the rest of the album. Hadn't bothered with the EPs, though I'm always up for Tom Joad cover. Yes, even the RATM one.

I'm in this boat as well - I generally like their stuff but this one just isn't doing it for me.

Yeah that Junip is darn good if you like that sorta thing. RIYL: All I can think of is King Crimson crossed with Beta Band, but haven't heard KC in 20 years so my memory might be tricking me. Correct me if I'm way off.

Awesome. Loved the debut record, didn't know they had a new one out. Such a shame that Stapelton is leaving.
